Ooh la la, Ulala

Pros: Just difficult enough to make you keep playing

Cons: No cons, really, but the japanese-to-english translations are funny sometimes

The Bottom Line: Spend the $15 just to have it around as a party game and to keep guests entertained, even if you don't fall for it yourself.

This is a great party game - everyone should have it in their collection just as some entertainment for when friends come over. (I actually have the Space Channel 5: Special Edition which contains both the original and Part 2)

The game has an amusing story - you play Ulala, a space reporter who has to pull off increasingly difficult dance moves to save the galaxy (and her news station). A bit ridiculous, yes, but who cares? The moves start out easy enough for even kids and non-gamers to get into it, and get more and more difficult as the game progresses.

The biggest improvement is that in Part 2, Ulala not only "dances", but you also "play" instruments and "sing". Not a big deal, except that it does break up the monotony of "up, down, left, right, shoot, shoot, shoot". Another cool addition is the 100-level challenge - you have to dance through 100 dance levels without screwing up at all. Yes, it's hard, but after you do it a couple times you don't want to put it down until you get further along. The other nice addition is Ulala's wardrobe - you can earn all of her outfits and replay with your favorites later (and there are some, ummm... "nice" choices in there!)

Hey, it's more than worth the $15.00 for the Special Edition version, and it will be even better to pull out at parties.
