I honestly expected more from this game. Don't get me wrong...it is quite an exciting experience and might possibly be one of the best movie licensed games out there. But I felt it was weak in some essential areas and painfully repetitive in other. A perfect example being the boss fights: they're clunky and redundant and sometimes broken. There is a glitch with the final boss where you can use your killing move on him again and again without fear of retaliation. And honestly, the combat becomes terribly predictable after a while given that you only have a single weapon (your claws) to work with throughout the entire game. It just devolves into a button mashing extravaganza which is way too easy for the most part (and unfortunately the game does not allow you start on HARD difficulty; it must be unlocked). Still, I'm not going to be too hard on this game though. Slicing up opponents with your claws and watching their limbs fly everywhere IS deliciously satisfying, and the blood soaked combat carries a lot of the entertainment value. The production values are surprisingly strong for a movie licensed title and the story is also surprisingly interesting (until the end, that is). Some moments (like the battle with Gambit atop the Casino rooftop) are truly awe inspiring. And unlike NINJA BLADE, the game (thankfully) does not spam Quick Time Events. It also has a much greater diversity of settings. I also liked the upgrade system too...it adds some replay value to the experience. While Wolverine fans will probably cherish this for a long time to come, I'm not sure if the average gamer will get much more from this than they will from any other 3-D beat-em-up/GOD OF WAR clone on the market. At least MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE allowed you to play as more characters than just Wolvie.

aside from Spider-man, I never got into super-hero games....
I brushed this off for a very long time which is actually weird of me, since I love to give comic book games a shot. I'm a try to find this dirt cheap and give it a whirl, especially since you mention the hacked off limbs and stuff. Also, if you dig these type of games even a little bit. I thought Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters was OK. And it has those challenging moments too, especially in the boss battles. I reviewed that along with Captain America: Super Soldier.
