How often do you rate and comment on Cafe Libri members' contents that you do not know (are not friends with or are not following their contributions)? What can the founder and moderators do to encourage you to rate and comment on content posted in Cafe Libri?

.You do an excellent job as a moderator and in my case the problem is my own. If I had more time to explore the site I would comment more often. Generally, if I see a review that looks interesting, I read it and comment on it.

This question is asked in an effort to get more members not only reading reviews but commenting and rating them. As a founder, I want to encourage this type of interaction. I'm also hoping there are ideas for what moderators can do and suggestions for inspiring the everyday member to not only read a review but rate and comment on it too.
For myself, I tend to read my friends' and followers' reviews the most. I don't necessarily read every review that they write for Cafe Libri purely because I can't keep up! I'm amazed at the quality of reviews written and the speed/efficiency of the writing. As for new members or people I am not friends with or following, I read their content when I see it posted, either at the Cafe Libri Community Page or from the Cafe Libri Twitter Page. Also, if my friends and followers comment on new content, I will usually respond.
The main idea I have for improving this situation is by recruiting a Genre Spotlight Moderator. This person would send out one newsletter per month where she or he highlights different reading related topics based on the current genre or theme. I'm recruiting for this position if anyone is interested in sending out a supplemental newsletter. I have also created a discussion thread where members can advertise Must Read Cafe Libri Reviews! Finally, adding/following members is a great way to meet new people. Once you develop a rapport with someone, then you both become more likely to rate and comment on each others' reviews. Plus, you can send out emails or bulletins to friends and followers, which is always an easy way to get people to not only read your reviews but rate and comment on them. This is especially valuable for me because I seem to miss a lot of content because there is so much traffic on the Lunch.com site.
One technique that I employ to get more readers is by linking my content to my status update on my profile page. That way visitors will see the urls and might be drawn to my content. Unfortunately, this does not guarantee that you will receive more comments and ratings.
Of course, I'm hoping to gather ideas from answers to this question. I'm also planning to spotlight this issue in the May newsletter as "Adrianna's Challenge." I'm sure we can inspire more members to socially interact with other members while enjoying some interesting reviews, quick tips, lists, discussions, etc.
