Okay, here's that odd circumstance where I am being offered something for nothing and whining about it.     As you can probably tell from my rating, I generally like Lunch.com. One of the site owners found my work on Epinions.com and asked me to drop in and give Lunch.com a quick whirl, even offering a little bit of payment as an incentive. With Epinions.com swirling ominously around the suckage drain at the moment, I shrugged and said "Well, why not?" And did I mention Lunch.com …

I blogged about Lunch.com on my personal blog (Sharrie.TV) 2 days ago.   Here it is:   As some of you might have know, I was into travelogues many years ago. Spent majority of my waking hours on VirtualTourist. Made some great friends along the way too & got to see many parts of the world which I otherwise wouldn't have step into!      Well, the boss JR Johnson sold it off (I believe he did unless I got my facts wrong!) and is beginning to …

Well, they got me.  I can't remember exactly when I came to Lunch.com.  It was in late December, and when I first got here, I must admit, I was not nearly as impressed.  But they were gracious enough to send me an invite and so I accepted.  Because I was curious.  The site was, for the most part nice, and they just kept improving.  Are there any immediate problems I have with the site now?  Well, not that haven't already been addressed …

This is a review that I have been contemplating for quite some time now and one that I certainly take no great joy in writing.  But after spending more than three years contributing to Lunch.com I have finally come to the realization that the high hopes that I had for this site are probably never going to be realized. The clarion call to "Feed Your Curiosity" is what attracted me to the site in the first place.   The prospect of engaging other members in writing …

It's interesting how community managers disappeared entirely from the site as soon as they are not on payroll! Beats me who is actually running this site now or it's simply on auto-pilot these days. As for me, I hardly switched on the laptop these days and writing for leisure on the iPad or iPhone is not my forte.      If a founder is no longer passionate about his/her site, should the members or employees really be?!

Dear nonexistent people who who keep popping up at random: If you're only posting a phony profile of a person who doesn't actually exist, don't follow my work! You're a waste of space and having your name on my followers list is a discredit to me. If you're not an active poster and/or have never been an active poster and/or have no intention of ever being an active poster, you have no business placing me - or really ANYONE AT ALL - on your follow list!

Well, I'm not going to lie to you. Other than logging out for 15 minute coffee breaks at work or signing off for the end of the day, lunch is what I look forward to. Considering the work I do, lunch can never be heavy nor can I indulge myself in something too sweet. Perhaps a snack that's low in carbs, salts, & sugars will suffice while I catch up on emails or what not. Lunch is a very peaceful time of day where you kick back & relax while …

What's this—another social networking site??  Well, not exactly.  Unlike the other popular leading sites, MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter, Lunch.com  uses your personal likes and dislikes to scientifically connect you with other members; it keeps a tab on what kind of things you like and makes no assumption that you are already seeking a connection with long lost friends, family, or coworkers. "It's not who you know, but what you know" on Lunch.com.      …

What can I say? One could get addicted! Great for exploration and engaging one's curiosity!

Please consider that this is a fictionalized account of how Lunch.com came to be. Once upon a time, there was an empty space in the information super-highway… Two exciting creative women met in the world of flashing lights.. One was called Healthy Rache. Another was called LingEatsCake. Healthy Rache insists that this empty spot in the cyberspace be made into her own image that it be made "Healthy" and full of energy and life. LingEatsCake insists that it be filled by all the sweetness of life--love …

So much variety, so much to talk about and hear about for a website. Awesome.

I was invited and joined Lunch.com a few days ago.If you are into social networks this is a new twist to the original thing. But that is my first "but": I am on a few social networks and somehow never really got friends with them - facebook, twitter, perhaps I just do not know enough people at the beginning or perhaps as a German I am somehow on the wrong continent, or perhaps I am not - any longer! :-) or :-( - spending so much time in front of a computer, but somehow I feel quickly bored or somehow …

I'll be honest- at first I didn't get it. I joined Lunch.com because a friend asked me to join and give feedback. I complained mostly. I didn't understand why I was here. "I already have myspace. I already use yelp. There are a million review sites out there! The worst thing about Friendster was the stupid network- what are you DOING?!"    I've also had an issue with sites that try to "read" who I am, in that they never get a full view. Because I happen to like Will Smith and …

EDITOR'S NOTE: This was written for the bi-weekly newspaper the ARC Current.  As such it was limited in space, what could be said, and how it could be said.  Writing for a newspaper is very different then writing for a blog or personal website.  Though this is not my best article by far, I figured it might be nice to share it with all you guys.  Enjoy.      The old saying goes, everyone's a critic. Thanks to a new Web site you can be one too. The Web site …

When I was first approached about becoming a contributor to Lunch.com back in November of 2008  I took a bit of time to survey the site before agreeing to come on board.  As I recall, my biggest concern was that much of the content appeared to lean in the direction of what I would characterize as "pop" culture.  Since my moniker is "The real world is so much more interesting" I wondered whether there would be any room on this site for what I enjoyed doing most, …

Lunch.com is a fascinating and fun opportunity to socialize with folks you normally don't rub shoulders with because of issues like life, location and lack of opportunity.     Kind of an quirky blend of Twitter speedy, Facebook friendliness/stalking ops (only the good kind, of course. ), Amazon and blogs Lunch.com is aptly named.     The benefit of Lunch.com over the true lunch room/water cooler atmosphere is the fact that you can come and go as you please, …

UPDATE:  After using the site more, I have more to review!  :)    I'm a web developer by trade.  I program, design and create web sites on a daily basis.  8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.  Then moreso as a side job for extra income.  So this review is more on a technical standpoint than anything else.    The Good  The concept is amazing.  Take Yelp + Twitter + FaceBook and add steroids.  Then give it some sunlight, …
