A fine bottle of syrah

A very nice wine - good grippy stuff, with lots of black fruit and decent tannin and spice on the finish.  Not especially complex, and gives off a bit of heat upon opening, but that blew off over a few hours in the decanter, and this became a hard wine not to enjoy.  Add to that the fact that I probably paid less than $25 for the bottle on release a few years ago - definitely thumbs up here. I'll have to poke around the wine locker to see if I hid another bottle or two of this in the corner somewhere.  It should be fun to see how this wine evolves with another year of bottle age.  It's got 6 years in it, but it's still incredibly youthful, and not quite as dark and brooding as I remember from the last time I drank it a few years ago.

Anyone can be a wine connoisseur - it just takes a strong commitment to drinking (check!), an adventurous spirit when it comes to trying to wines (check!), and somewhat of an ability to remember just a couple of things about the wine(s) you drank (check...usually). I say go for it!

That's a nice piece of wine-reviewing there, and makes me wish I could be a wine connossieur. Great stuff!
