THE best mystery author working today, bar none. I love the fact that his Kenzie/Gennaro series is so gritty, and free of the romanticism that so often goes with private investigation - think of Sam Spade, THAT is romanticized. I love how the bad sections of Boston are able to become characters themselves. I love the realism of Patrick Kenzie; he's got real problems, and no dames with great gams are likely to ever come walking into his office sexily saying they suspect their husbands of cheating on them. Mystic River sucked, though.

Slamming QT. This author has been on my radar for a while. I really need to check out some of his writings.

You're gold pretty much any way it goes with him. He's written ten books, and I've read all of them except for Coronado and Shutter Island. Only Mystic River rubbed me the wrong way.

Not a bad track record all things considered. I'm planning to make "Shutter Island" my first read of his just because I enjoyed the film so much. I'm sure I will like the book even more.
