My 10 Favorite Movies of 2011

  • Dec 27, 2011
My Favorite Movies of 2011- I have seen a lot of movies in 2011. These are my favorites.
1
Moneyball
I don't even watch baseball. This movie makes baseball interesting. I never thought about evaluating players who possess certain skills. Brad Pitt gives the performance of his career as A's general manager Billy Bean. Jonah Hill is good here too.
See the full review, "Moneyball is one of the best movies of the year.".
2
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara have excellent chemistry here. They work together to find a woman who has been missing for forrty years. I love to see a strong tough woman in a movie. This film kept me on the edge of my seat. I love how David Fincher puts these two characters together. I know this film came from a novel, but I did not read it.
3
Water for Elephants
This film is from another book that I did not read. Robert Pattinson gives an excellent performance as a compassionate veternarian. Reese Witherspoon plays the love of the his life. Christoph Waltz and Hal Holbrook have good supporting roles here.
See the full review, "Water For Elephants is a romantic, funny and dramatic film.".
4
Captain America: The First Avenger
This is my favorite comic book movie of the year. Chris Evans gives a good performance as a scrawny young man turned super hero. Hugo Weaving is such a great anatagonist.
5
Bridesmaids
This is the funniest film of the year. What funny things can happen to a woman before she gets married? This film answers that question. The cast is filled with funny women like Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and Maya Rudolph.
6
I saw this movie on Christmas Day with a new friend that I made. It was my first movie date in six years with a woman I love movies that show the connection that can be formed between a human being and a horse. Jeremy Irvine gives an superb performance as Albert. He teaches a horse named Joey how to plow a field before it goes off to serve in World War I. This movie is beautiful to look. The shots of England are stunning.
7
This is my favorite animated movie and sequel of the year. Po finds inner peace while fighting a peacock named Lord Shen. The voice work by Jack Black and Gary Oldman do superb voice work. This film sets up a possible sequel, and I am ready for it.
8
Beginners (2010 movie)
This film shows a beautiful relationship between a father and a son. They are played by Christopher Plummer and Ewan McGregor. Christopher Plummer portrays a homosexual man in a moving way. This movie did not make a lot of money, but it is still worth checking out.
9
Cars 2
This movie is considered a flop by many people, but I liked it. I love to see animated cars in exotic locales as they race around the world. The soundtrack added to my enjoyment of the movie. It contains excellent songs by Weezer, Brad Paisley and Robbie Williams and a song by French singer Benabar. The theme of this movie is about friendship. I loved it, and so did my seven year old nephew.
10
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
I thought this movie was action packed and also funny. Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law have good chemistry together. Jared Harris plays a great villain as Professor Moriarty. I saw this movie on my 40th birthday, which was December 17, 2011 with several of my closest friends.
