My Favorite Movies of 2012 so far

  • Jul 17, 2012
1
Prometheus
. I like the premise of a group of explorers trying to find the origin of life I have never seen a character give birth to an alien before. Ridley Scott continues to amaze me with his use of special effects. This movie is suspenseful throughout.
2
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
This film has the best cast of any movie I have seen all year. It is about a group of senior citizens who travel to India and stay in a hotel. The hotel is run by a young Indian man who is trying to keep the hotel open after his father passes away. He is played brillantly by Dev Patel. This movie also stars Judi Dench as a recent widow and Bill Nighy who tries to reconnect with a man he has romantic feelings for. This movie made me laugh and had me clapping at the end.
3
'The Avengers' Directed By Joss Whedon
I like reading the Avengers comic book growing up. Each character in the movie brought drama and humor to the plot. Iron Man, Thor, and the Incredible Hulk each had moments of greatness on screen.
4
Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted
This is my favorite animated movie of the year so far. The plot involves a group of animals, which includes a lion, a hippo, a zebra and giraffe trying to get back to New York City zoo where they live. They join a travelling circus. This film has beautiful animated scenes of Rome and London. The message of the importance of friendship makes this easily the best family film of the year.
5
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012 film)
This is the best spider man film in the franchise. The lizard is the best viliain. The lizard is by far the most intelligent of all of Spiderman's enemies. Rhys Ifans gives a performance as Curt Conners. He is a scientist who is missing an arm and regrows the limb in an experiment gone wrong. Andrew Garfield brings a cocky sort of confidence to the role of Peter Parker
6
The Hunger Games
Jennifer Lawrence continues to blossom as an actress. I love watching her shoot at targets and climb trees as she tries to stay alive in a televised competion to the death. Her performance is the reason to watch this film.
