The following is a list of the 23 players who were selected by US Men's National Team head coach Bob Bradley to represent the USA in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. I personally feel pretty good about the 23 that were selected. I think this team can do a great job over in South Africa this summer and I am excited to see them play against some of the great national teams ever. Feel free to comment below if you have anything to say about these guys!
The Captain! There is going to be a lot of pressure on Carlos to lead this team as far as possible in this World Cup. The most important thing though is that he keeps his defense in line because this looks to be the US's weak point.
A little bit of a shocker after coming back from a bad injury. The US needs his huge size in the back but I think he's still a little nervous about getting injured again. I hope Gooch can step out of the nervousness and step it up!
Jay is a good pick for the defense. He's one of those players who can pull some clutch moves. On the other hand he needs to stay consistent with clearing the ball.
Goodson had a great game against the Czech Rep. in the World Cup Send Off Series. He really stepped up when he knew his defense was starting to fail. I'm pretty pumped to see how Goodson does in South Africa.
Half surprised on this call and half not surprised. For some reason Bob Bradley loves playing Bornstein. I guess I would have picked him over a few other guys but I don't think he should start. He just hasn't shown us a lot in the last couple of games including his MLS games.
He didn't just get picked because he's the coaches son, Michael Bradley is a solid midfield player who has a bit of a bad boy attitude. As long as he keeps his cool on terrible calls by the ref, I think he'll do great!
I love this little dude. Holden is a great pick and he is truly at the start of a great career. He had a great game in the Czech Rep. game and I'm really excited to watchHolden get out on the field!
I'm a little surprised on this pick. Edu didn't get much play time at Rangers but he did a pretty good job against the Czech Rep. It'll be interesting to see how Edu does on the pitch in South Africa.
I expected this pick. I'll always remember Ricardo's long shot goal against Trinidad and Tobago in World Cup qualifying to win the game for the US. It was truly a great goal.
Great member of this team. Benny had some good plays in the Confederations Cup last summer and I think is a going to be a great player for this team. Who wouldn't love to see him score against Brazil the country he was born in? ;)
Pretty good, young player. I doubt we'll see much play time from him, but you never know when Bradley will throw him in to rest up other midfielders for other games.
The Deuce! Everyone knew he'd be on this team. Last World Cup Clint only scored one goal against Ghana. The US really needs him to step up and score goals like he did in the Confederations Cup. I think Dempsey will wow us all in this World Cup.
Once again, no surprise here. Our big boy up front who can score goals. There is only one thing Jozy need to keep his mind on this World Cup. It's not Twitter, or Facebook or where he's going to play next season. He need to focus on scoring goals and scoring as many goals a possible. He is really holding a lot of weight on his shoulders at this World Cup and not only the fans, but his team as well expect him to be putting balls in the back of the net.
I'm a bit surprised at this one. Definitely a top player in the MLS but haven't seen much out of him this season. Funny side note, As I'm writing this right now "Findley" is a trending topic worldwide on Twitter. Good for him!
WOW!!! Out of no where!!! As an LA Galaxy fan I am really excited for Edson. I think he barely made it on this team, but that's cool, at least he's on it right? He'll probably be Jozy's sub while in South Africa but I'll be really excited to see him git on the pitch for the US and maybe even score a goal. After all he is named after the great one.. Pele.
Late call up to the National Team Camp, but scoring so many goals this past season in Mexico put him on the map. I just hope he knows that goalies in the World Cup are a little different than the goalies down in Mexico. The World Cup goalies know how to stop balls from crossing the goal line. Will he be in the starting 11? I think he just might.
I'm excited for Beasley. Some said he wasn't going to make it, but may I remind you of the friendly against The Netherlands. That was probably Beasley's best National Team game and if he can bring it like that in this World Cup he will be a great asset to the team.
I totally change my opinion. Thought Findley looked very good in the friendly against Turkey, even if he over dribbled on a couple of occasions.

That's funny you said that. I was literally about to reply to my comment below with the same thing. If the US can play like they did against Turkey, we may actually have a shot at this!
The Findley choice was/is bizarre to me. I'd rather of seen Eddie Johnson in there. I thought he looked great in the Czech game and, he played very well with Buddle.

I'd have to agree. Eddie Johnson can play a few different position too. Findley also hasn't been doing that hot in the MLS this season so I don't know.
Bornstein and Onyewu aren't just weak defenders, they are borderline horrible in the form they've currently playing in. As for the absence of Brian Ching, I couldn't be more thrilled for the U.S. up top (unless Davies was in). The U.S. needs to take risks if they want to shake up anything for this tournament, selecting Gomez, Buddle & Findley are all risks, but I'd rather see that than keep repeating the failure Ching recipe. Good insight Ryan, dig your enthusiasm about the home squad.

I couldn't agree more on the guys up top. Out with the old, in with the new/random. I think it'll be fun to watch a Gomez Altidore mix up top. As far as the defense. That our weak spot especially with injured Gooch and Bornstein. It is going to be a hard battle trying to keep Rooney contained in the first match...
