Good presentation

  • Girls Fight Back was provided as an example of a great use of photo-sharing tools to generate attention (which is what marketing is supposed to do)
  • You have to be willing to relinquish some control.  Grateful Dead example of the effect of letting fans record concerts and share that with others, etc....huge concert ticket sales resulted.
  • You need to help people sort through the gobbeldygook, both in terms of words (speak to people in their own language; refer to fluffy marketing descriptions of companies and their services as examples of what NOT to do) and visually (IBM and Constant Contact use the same stock photo on their websites; do something a little more real)
  • You have to create triggers that encourage people to share
  • No coercion required

Best / Worst Quotes
Got the first Star Wars quote of the conference today....it's taken 5 days people!  I thought SXSWi was geekfest!!  Anyhow...Yoda was quoted "You must unlearn what you have learned"

Overall, a good presentation.  David has great stage presence and gave his talk in an easy-to-follow way.
