Learn to program, or at least what it is, or risk being left behind

  • Mar 13, 2010

"I was more of a fan of the net before the net than after then net, just like Obama."

"If you are not one of the programmers, you will be programmed."

"When we get a new medium, civilization is one generation behind. The elite learn to use it."

Digital technology is such a game changer we need commands (as in commandments) so that we maintain the control and focus going forward. Those who understand digital will guide the future for all. The commands over-simplify things a bit, but maybe oversimplication is what's needed to make it easier to explain. There's a level of elitism but I don't think it's misplaced here. If you get it, then be one of those that moves things it the right direction to benefit everyone.

Thanks for sharing, Annie!  What an interesting panel.  Are those quotes from the talk, or some of the commandments?

Hi devora The quotes are from the speaker. I couldn't type fast enough to grab the Ten Commands! I'll see if I can find a link to them.

Rushkoff is an entertaining, really smart speaker. The crowd was engaged, the topic fascinates me. Check him out..
