What Working Out Means to Me

  • Mar 26, 2010
I love lifting weights (although I should do it more). I feel very productive doing squats, curls and any other anaerobic exercises. I love the idea that I'm building muscle (which burns calories all day long) and strengthening my bones.
To sound cliche, yoga empowers me to breathe more and stop to reflect on what my body is doing and feeling --something I forget to do 99% of the time. Power yoga is extra great because it incorporates the power of the breath with aerobic and anaerobic exercising.
Pilates is fun because it focuses your exercising purpose on core muscles, posture and fluid movement. Plus everyone who partakes in pilates has a rockin bod and that is the superficial goal of exercise (duh).
First you must walk to eventually run. Walking is a great alternative when you "know" you should be exercising but are too lazy to pick up the pace.
Because it's fun to say "yah-ging". Jogging is great when I don't want to go to the gym or commit to a yoga class but to be honest, I get quite bored jogging and I usually only last about a mile. I really admire runners who can stay entertained (even with music) for miles and miles.
Max Fitness 65cm Exercise Ball with Foot Pump (Pearl White)
I love to replace my desk chair with an exercise ball because I feel like I'm burning calories while kicking butt at work. Hello multi-tasking!

Nice! I, too, admire folks who can jog for miles and miles. That's just not for me right now, but I'm working on it! I can, however, bike for miles and miles :) I'm going to need to try that exercise ball thing.... Great list! I may just make one of my own!

Nice list! I did 45 mins of PIlates this morning. Hadn't done it in ages and boy could I tell! LOL I don't enjoy yoga AT ALL and I don't jog because of bad knees, but I LOVE walking. I enjoy lifting weights too. Though I am overweight, I still have good muscle definition underneath. :)

Great list. I do everything on the list, but power yoga. I'm glad I discovered Pilates a few years ago. I really enjoy it. My latest addition is an exercise ball. It's great for stretching the back and nifty strength exercises. Thanks.

Ugh, I'm right there with you when it comes to jogging! I'd much prefer hiking, or even just walking! Great list.
