In terms of being a "wonder of the world", I've always been singularly unimpressed with the choice of the Christ the Redeemer statue. It's nice and impressive, to be sure, but not at the level that would warrant labelling it a "wonder of the world". Surely something like the pyramids or the Sphinx would come far before that!

I suspect you might be right. I haven't been to Christ the Redeemer but I think there are a few others which might be a lot more interesting & worthy. One such that I had visited is Borobudur in Indonesia; world's largest Buddhist Monument. I just wrote a review on it. Check it out!
