Nuts! or are they really?!

  • Nov 7, 2009
1
Macadamia
See the full review, "Honey, it's yummy!".
2
Cashew
It's commonly found in Indonesia and they are sold everywhere in the street & markets. I love the roasted ones, especially honey roasted. Yummy!
3
Coconut
Not botanically but culinary a nut. South East Asian cuisines use lots of it, especially Indonesian Cuisine. I grew up eating, drinking & snacking on them. Never did get tired of coconut somehow. Love its juice, crunchy interior & all the delicious dishes made out of coconut milk! Virgin Coconut Oil is excellent for the skin & hair too!
4
Chestnut
This is the nut for the winter season. As soon as the weather cools, one can find street vendors roasting them on the streets of Hong Kong, Taipei, Shanghai & Beijing. Lovely! Another favorite of mine is Water Chestnut, though technically, that's not a nut but corms of a sledge.
5
Pistachio
This one is popular in Thailand. Reasonably cheap and abundant in Bangkok, it's crunchy and a good nut for beers!
6
hazelnut
Lovely hazelnut... I love them in my chocolate bars!
7
Almond
The best almond I've ever had was in cocoa dusted chocolates bought in Switzerland under the brand Cadbury. But, I've never seen them anywhere in the world. Boy, I missed those cocoa-dusted almond chocolates! Sinfully delicious!
8
Walnut
I love walnut soups in Hong Kong Desserts. They are the greatest. Eaten as simply a nut snack is a little less exciting.
9
Pecan
Why did I like Pecan? No idea except that when mixed with raisins, they are good!
10
Peanut
Peanut is kinda boring after a while. I did at one time love honey roasted peanuts quite a bit!

Aha, it is a nut indeed; "Botanically, a coconut is a simple dry nut." according to wikipedia! How true that is, well, I don't pretty much care, lol....

All of them are legumes. The only thing on this list that I'm not deadly allergic to is the coconut.

Nice list! But do Mauna Loa Macadamian nuts really count when they're candy-coated? ;P I dig water chestnuts, too :)
