The House of Your Dream. Indulge!

Given a choice, what kind of homes would you dreame of living in or building? Would it be a palace, a castle, a hotel-like penthouse or a house like those of Bill Gates and some Hollywood mega stars?

I thought it'd be fun to give a free rein to our imagination and see what we can come up with. IF one day you can have any house of your choice, which one would it be?

This list is not in any specific order.
Casa Mila
I came across Casa Mila when I was vacationing in Barcelona. It is an apartment building with the most unique roof top but still within the city of Barcelona. If there is a place I'd like to live in when in Europe, it'd probably be Casa Mila. It is a normal apartment home, not too big nor too far fetched for a city girl like me. I don't think I need to live in a palace to be happy. This is one of my most popular destination and city. An apartment like Casa Mila is ideal :)

One of Gaudi's masterpieces, Casa Mila is unique and one of a kind. A delight to the senses!

RMS Queen Mary 2
I'm not keen on living on board a ship. However, the Queen Mary 2 is unrivaled in its luxurious decor and the idea of traveling around the world 365 days a year on board one's own home is too tempting to resist! Ok, may be I won't mind doing so for 180 days, LOL...

Now, being rich certainly has its perks! An apartment on board this ship is going to cost how much?!?!?!  I've no idea but if you've to ask for the price, then you cannot afford it! ;p

Being the largest ocean liner ever built, There are some 15 restaurants and bars, 5 swimming pools, a casino, a theater and a planetarium at sea!

Life is magnifique if this is your home!
Silversea Cruises
Another cruise liner but it's one of the best around. I was invited once to sample life on board Silversea Cruises. I must say the offer was too hard to resist so off I went. Boy, food was just out of this world. One gets to dine with fine cutlery and the best chefs around!

I was told a man who was on wheelchair actually made this his home and he travel around with other guests months after months. Hey, it's certainly cool to welcome your friends to your home if this is your dream home!

Burj Al Arab
If there's a hotel one'd like to make one's home, it'll have to be the Burj Al Arab in Dubai! Not that I'd love to live in the Middle East but building a hotel of this caliber and make it one's dream home is quite a feat in itself.

Oh yes, I could certainly see myself live in this awesome building. How about you?

It's spectacular, isn't it?

Buckingham Palace
Some dream of being a princess while others being the queen. Well, Kate Middleton made it to the Buckingham Palace although she'll probably not live here.

Palace and Park of Versailles
If there is any palace you'd like to live in or rebuild another one, Versailles is a good place to start. Of course. you'd have to have lots of friends to fill up the rooms else you'd be very lonely in this huge compound!

Air Force One
For those of us who love to fly around the world, this has to be the home we very much need!
Air Force One will land you anywhere you wish, with the exception of terrorists' territory! Theoretically, that is.

So, making the Boeing 747 your home can be accomplished for some. It's not impossible. You just have to work extra hard to reach that dream! As for Air Force One, well, Obama made it, didn't he? ;-)

The White House
It may be the most powerful house anyone can stay in but it's also the most risky where it's targeted by the many enemies of the state!!! Some men and women love danger so this might be their ideal home!

I do know one "moron" in China actually built his house modeled after the White House! It's downright the most ridiculous idea and also the worse "copyright" infringement ever, LOL... well, IF the White House is actually patented, that is ;-)

Well, if it's your dream house, by all means. Me? I'm not interested in most things politics and this is one such symbol!
Hearst Castle
A man once dream and his magnificent dream turns into Hearst Mansion. If you've ever been there, you might have liked it and make it your own.

Yes, this one is in California and you can even go visit!

I dreamt about swimming in its indoor swimming pool even before I saw images of it! Truly! No joke! It was downright freaky :)
None of the above? Well, if you dream enough, you'll come up with something that's perfect for you. The idea is for one to have a dream, no matter how ridiculous that dream may be...

Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream so shall you become.

Your vision is the promise of what you shall one day be; your Ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil.

The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream.

The oak sleeps in the acorn; the bird waits in the egg; and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs.

Your circumstances may be uncongenial, but they shall not long remain so when you perceive an Ideal and strive to reach it.

Buckingham palace for me thank you very much.
I went there in summer 2009 ( it's open for public two months during the summer) and it was quite brilliant and it has a great garden and of course it is central in that fabulous city London.

Great list and idea, Sharrie! I'd love a Craftsman beach house with plenty of Bay windows to sit and read, write or play music in....ahhhh....we can always dream ;p
