The antidote to boredom

  • Aug 13, 2009
Magazines is a good way of spending one's time in the salon as well as waiting for flights to board. Over the years, I've come across some very good read and learned a great deal through the magazines. Here are some of my favorites. Which one do you fancy?
1
Economist newspaper
I like this magazine especially for the global and financial aspects of its news and analysis. It is detailed and convincing. Predictions may not be accurate but it is enjoyable to read something as dry as Economics here on this magazine. Well done and Highly recommended.
2
Fast Company (1-year)
If you like anything technology inclined and also innovations related, this is the magazine for you. With these 2 magazines (#1 & #2), you'll be very well read and well informed about the world at large.
3
Travel + Leisure
Most interesting for travelers. Lots of new places to check out and I like the layout of this magazine with its wonderful photography.
4
Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel
To save money, this is the magazine for you. It's not necessary budget related but this is the magazine that points to lots of good deals in the travel market.
5
Business Week
I hardly buy Business Week but at one time I could get them on airline lounges or on the plane itself. That's when I begin to read about its articles. These days, I visit Businessweek.com occasionally to see what's up in the business arena. It's sufficient for my needs and is still a very good source of information. It's free too!
6
Business Week (Chinese Edition)
I bought Business Week Chinese Edition until about mid-2008 when they doubled their price from RMB10 to RMB20! That was a 100% increase and I haven't bothered with it since then. For a while, it was a good source of information when in China and also a great way to improve my Chinese!
7
Outside
Outside is more of a travel magazine than a business one but it has lots of stuff which I'm not familiar with. Hence, something which I'd like to pick up at the airport right before I board the plane.
8
Forbes
Better online than in paper. I like its numerous lists.
9
Islands
Great magazine when you're in the mood to islands hop!
10
National Geographic
It's a good magazine but at times I feel it's getting way too expensive!
