Top European Destinations

It's tough to pick up 30 destinations in Europe I like more than the rest (200+ cities I've visited in Europe itself!). Here is a list of them which I think are all must-sees. Generally, they are cities but a few of them might be smaller than our concept of a city (like Santorini & Wengen). In any case, these are the very best of them. Naturally, there are a few others which don't appear simply coz I haven't had a chance to visit although I'm quite sure I've visited a lot more than most people ;-)

Gaudi and the warmth of the Spanish people made this #1. A most artistic and energetic city!

Great architecture and food. I've had some great times here. Compact and easy to navigate. English speaking too!

To love this city, you need to love the lakes and mountains and all things nature. It is a great spa getaway too. My favorites!

Rich, musical and vibrant city. Amazing museums and palaces. Love it here! My good friend Oliver lives here so this is tops!

Romantic, touristy, great for shopping and most artistic city in Italy! Great destinations for lovers and those looking for something unique. A class of its own!

Most romantic city in the World according to some. It is a big city, quite expensive and lots to do. Make sure you don't arrive when there's a strike! Paris is known for strikes ;-)

Most beautiful island in the world! Fira is the capital of Santorini Island of Greece. Great place for honeymooners.

Small tiny town in Switzerland. Very pretty. If I've my wish, growing old here would be nice :-)

Clean, upscale, casual and relaxing. Although small, I enjoyed walking around town. Great seafood!

I've lots of fond memories of this city and my friend Armando here. It is a warm city and lots of interesting architecture to wander around. Fado, Port, Portugal Egg Tart... they all make Lisbon unforgettable!

Very cosmopolitan, very friend and very easy to get around city in Northern Europe.

A modern vibrant city of Germany. I enjoy this city during my trip here for the World Cup 2006.

The best of Croatia. It's charming and so fun to spend the day walking around the old town. Nice architecture and very romantic place. Ideal for honeymoon!

It's hip, chic and fashionable. The new Berlin exudes a refreshing air to it. Many architecture to marvel at and the best way to enjoy it is to simply walk around the city.

Quaint little town in Belgium. A fairytale quality to it and a great place to walk around. I had a great time here!

I was touring Cesky Krumlov with @socrates_07 a few years back and you won't believe the amount of photos we both managed to chalk up! What a beautiful town in Czech Republic!

Tours is extremely special to me, due to a unique experience at a Gothic church. For most people though, this is the best place to station oneself for day trips to the many magnificent chateaux around as well as wine tasting tours!

A quaint and cosy city in Poland. Walking around Krakow is definitely a most memorable experience.

I was surprised by how much Dublin appeals to me. Not least because I see lots of Chinese around. Guinness is the order of the day & I truly enjoy the feel of this European city.

St. Petersburg, Russia
Opulent, grand & a western jewel. At times cold due to its geographical location but otherwise a very beautiful planned city of Peter the Great. Its architecture and cathedrals are wold class. Unique and has a character of its own.

I enjoyed Helsinki mostly because of my friends here. However, it has some stark architecture and an incredible organized city. Strangely enough, this is where you'll find reindeer on the menu! Yum!!! ;-)

Most have not heard of this European city. However, if you're lucky to find it when in Austria, make sure you make a day trip here. Its monastery is incredible and the surrounding area surreal.

One word... Guggenheim. One experience... my worst food poisoning! Got it the night in Madrid and ended up totally sick for 3 nights in Bilbao!

It's a city of the past. For those interested in history, this is where glory was!

Another interesting city. Very Russian as with Beijing being extremely Chinese. At its best, Moscow is colorful and vibrant; at its worst, not many speaks English & hamper solo traveling.

What's there not to love about this Italian city? I didn't travel to many Italian cities but this is a fine one for all that I remember.

Rich & a shoppers' paradise. For those interested in casinos, this shall be the stop for you in Europe!

Another city in Ireland. Galway has a charm that's hard to describe. Until you are there, you probably won't know what you missed in life!

Great list, Sharrie! I've only been to 1/5 of the countries on this list. Can't wait to visit the rest! My family's actually in Europe right now touring a few of these. Looking forward to your update when you visit the others that you want to visit! ;)

Nope, I should've gone though since a good friend of mine is also over there right now. I could've Lunched there, too! ;P A lot of my dad's side of the family are in Paris, and one of my cousins there is getting married, so my whole clan descended upon Paris, then they're going to Germany, Italy, Spain and some other countries. I'll just live vicariously through their slide shows :P
