Favorite Health Foods

This list was inspired by EcoMama's Favorite Health Foods. Unlike EcoMama, I am not too skinny to diet.... but I don't do it anyway. I do believe in the Mind and Body connection and that is why I try to eat healthy.
1
Red Wine
What? Haven't you heard of Resveratrol? The French paradox? Can you name another beverage that contains as much polyphenols, antioxidants, and flavonoids as Red wine? If a little is good, more has got to be better right?
2
Salmon
So versatile, so delicious, and is a great match with Red Wine. Really high in Omega-3 and Vitamin D this is my fish of choice.  Make sure it is caught on the long line, not in nets or farm raised.
3
Wild Blueberry
Great call Ecomama. Wild Blueberries are the best. One third the size but 10 times the flavor. if you are lucky enough to have a bush near by consider yourself lucky.
4
Avocado
You gotta love the avo. So creamy, so good. Again, the versatility of the avo is crazy. They make your LDL (bad) go down and your HDL (good) go up. Holy Guacamole.
5
Garlic
Healthy and works really well with #1 and #2. Downside: Dragon Breath.
6
Heirlooms
The colors and shapes of Heirloom tomatoes are great, but what about the names. Box Car Willy, Lollipop, Mortgage Lifter, Green Zebra, you gotta love it.
7
Apples
Matt Damon said it best "you like apples? how about them apples? On a cheese board with some blue cheese and nuts call it dessert.
8
Roasted Almonds
A handful of roasted almonds 30 minutes before dinner will help you with portion control. Try it.
9
Greek Yoogurt
My wife turned me on to this stuff and it is an aquired taste. Once you get into it though you'll never go back. If you can't go cold turkey away from sweet americanized yogurt try adding some local honey or Agave nectar.
10
Spinach
Popeye figured this out a long time ago. Great as a salad or as an alternate to lettuce on a sandwich.

What did you think of this list?

Great List Shayne! Glad I inspired it :) Good to see people eating healthy, and I have to agree that our mind affects our health and body directly, and vice versa. I forgot to put Spinach on my List... I like it fresh too, keeps all the nutrients.
