My Favorite Dodgers Of All Time

  • Aug 25, 2009
  • by
This is a list of my top 10 Dodgers of all time.  I am a little anal about these list and think they should come in multiples of 5 and that is why I stopped at 10 and it was not an easy decision.  I hope... and expect to see some retort to this list if you are a true fan of the Blue.  Perhaps some old timers can shed some light on the likes of Pee Wee, Wally Moon, The Duke, and Kofax. And.... I expect Kemp, Either, Martin and Kershaw to be on this list in the next couple of years.
1
Steve Sax
The guys flat out hustle inspired the way I played the game growing up. Despite the Sophmore jinx, Sax could flat out play.
2
Mickey Hatcher
Filling in for Kurt Gibson during the '88 World Series, Mickey "the hack" Hatcher was as much a spark plug for the Dodgers as was Kurt. Hitting a home run and sprinting the trot is forever stuck in my head.
3
Kurt Gibson
Fist Pump!!!! Nuff said.
4
Tommy Lasorda
Tommy Lasagne quote in his last game at Candlestick Park in SF as the ruckus croud booed him... "You don't hate me...........You hate yourself for loving me". CLASSIC!
5
Piazza
Drafted as a favor to Lasorda (his godfather) in the 62nd round Piazza went on to become an All-Star and one of my favorite Dodgers off all time.
6
El Toro
El Toro, Vinny used to say that he would roll his eyeballs all the way back in his forhead.... al la Nuke LaLoosh in from Bull Durham. Gotta love Fernandomania.....Rookie Card $100.
7
Eric Gagne
This maple leafer was so automatic in 2003 it was ridiculous. 84 consecutive saves..... Forget about it!
8
Jackie Robinson
Never saw him play unfortunately, but certainly deserving of any Dodger list.
9
The Penguin
The Penguin who played like a champ..... Remember the Diving, Back handed grab of a bunt pop up with a heavily bandaged left arm, or the patented waddle around the bases. The 80's were great.
10
The Bulldog
Coined "the Bulldog" by Tommy, I wish there were more class acts like this guy in the game today.

What did you think of this list?

this is such a personal list... great work building this out. limiting the list to 10 really forces you to make some tough choices. i thought for sure you were a Rick Monday guy... especially after he stopped those flag burners. Dude, i still remember you and me sitting on Chad Dinenna's parent's sofa watching Gibson go yard in Game 1 of the '88 World Series. great times man.
