RHYMES ARE FUN FOR CHILDREN TO READ

In all probability almost every child would like to have a dog. Perhaps some young ones know exactly the kind of dog they want - perhaps a Cocker Spaniel, an ever popular Lab, or a German Shepherd. The little girl imagined by Emma Dodd knows she wants a dog, and she certainly knows what kind of dog she does not want.

The kind of pet she does not want is described in lilting rhymes that young readers will enjoy. Such as,

"I don't want a posh dog,
A blow-dry-when-washed dog..."

Obviously she doesn't want a dog that needs a great deal of grooming, and she doesn't want a grumpy dog.

"I don't want a snappy dog.
A growly, never-happy dog."

Youngsters will enjoy discovering just exactly what kind of pet she does want, and may well relate to her choice. The author's bold full-page illustrations serve to tell the story well, easily bringing the rhymes to life.
