My favorite ballroom dance workout DVDs (no partner needed!)

  • Nov 6, 2010
I love doing dance workouts, and my favorite style is ballroom dancing. This is a list of my favorite ballroom dancing workouts that DO NOT require a partner.
1
Dance with Julianne: Cardio Ballroom
This DVD is really fun and energetic as the host Julianne Hough leads the viewer in three high cardio dance routines: Cha-Cha, Jive, and Paso Doble. Best for Intermediate to Advanced exercisers/dancers.
See the full review, "Great cardio ballroom workout!".
2
Fitness with the Pros
Edyta Sliwinska and her husband Alec Mazo both host this fitness DVD that utilizes cardio ballroom moves as exercise. There isn't much explanation of the steps, but the four dances to be learned (Waltz, Cha-Cha, Samba, and Jive) are broken down into Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels.
See the full review, "No partner needed".
3
Dancing with the Stars: Dance Off the Pounds
Something important to a dance workout is the fun factor, and this DVD has just that. As you learn Quickstep, Jive, and Swing dance routines, you will actually have a great time sweating! The moves are taught quickly so this DVD is best for Intermediate to Advanced exercisers/dancers.
See the full review, "Fun and cardio!".
4
Dancing with the Stars: Latin Cardio Dance
Learn moves from the Merengue, Cha-Cha, Samba, and Mambo as you workout at the same time. Most of the moves taught are very basic and broken down making this perfect for Beginner and Intermediate exercisers/dancers. There is a bonus toning workout at the end.
See the full review, "A low impact Latin dance workout".
5
Dancefit Cardio - Latin and Retro Mix
With very different styles of dance that you workout with (Latin, Disco, and Swing) it is impossible to get bored with this workout program! Join Tracey Mallet as she teaches the routines to you! Best for Intermediate or Advanced exercisers/dancers.
See the full review, "A fun dance workout DVD!".
6
Dancing with the Stars: Dance Body Tone
Sculpt your abs and legs as you learn moves to three styles of dance: Latin, Tango, and Freestyle. The instructors break the moves down and focus on your muscles as you move to the different beats of each dance. Great for Beginner or Intermediate dancers/exercisers.
See the full review, "Toning? Not really.".
7
Dancing With the Stars - Cardio Dance (2006)
Join some of the pros from the hit ABC series "Dancing with the Stars" as they teach you real dance moves done on the show. Whether doing the Paso Doble, Cha-Cha, Samba, or Jive, you are sure to get a good cardio workout at the same time. Great for Beginner to Intermediate dancers/exercisers.
See the full review, "Pretty basic steps taught with no explanation.".
