Awful Steven Seagal Direct to DVD Movies.

Awful? Steven Seagal?! Direct to DVD?! No that isn't extra redundancy. I DO like some of Steven Seagal's movies but some are terrible and his direct to DVD offerings do leave something to be desired. They weren't bad for a weekend rental but they all have a few things in common, heavy editing around our heavy hero, ridiculous fight physics and just plain bad story telling. I've seen these four, and I'm sure I'll get around to seeing a couple more of them.

Belly of the Beast (movie)

Steven is a retired super spy who's daughter has been kidnapped by Thailand terrorists. Paced better with more action then others on this list but not without it's logic flaws and meandering story with no surprises. Seeing Seagal use his killer akido to fling people across markets and through car doors has to be seen to be belived.

Into the Sun

Seagal plays an expert on Japanese gangsters who with the worst partner in movie history must find the relation between Chinese Triads and Japan's Underworld. Might have been better then Belly of the Beast if not for more action scenes and a better understanding of whats going on.

Against the Dark

Seagal is barely in the first 40 minutes and his COSTAR gets the good action scenes and we have some sketchy goings on of why there are vampires and the governments involvement. Seagal in his tummy concealing longcoat and katana with a female catsuit clad sidekick is ripping off at BEST Blade and Underworld but thank the Holy Mother of God they aren't ripping off Twilight and reminding me that vampires once were cool.
