Sir Integra Wingates Hellsing inherited the Hellsing Organization after her father passed away. She's soon targeted for execution due to her uncle's disagreement with the decision. She retreats to the basement of the estate and releases the vampire Alucard, who swears his allegiance to her. Now Integra leads the organization in the war protecting England against vampires and ghouls. They must also defend themselves against rival exorcist.

After the violent sneak attack on Hellsing HQ, which left their numbers dangerously low. The butler named Walter recommends, and succeeds in hiring a group of mercenaries to help bolster their ranks. Integra receives an invitation to meet Hellsing's deadly rivals the Iscariots. They are the Vatican's top and most trusted warriors. Their discussion ends when Integra learns the identity, and origin of the Hellsing Organization's now top nemesis.
Hellsing's assailants are known as Millennium. They're a group of Nazi's left over from the second World War. Integra orders Alucard to travel into South America, and upon arrival they're eventually labeled as terrorist. They must now fight off a well equipped S.W.A.T. force. -summary
Anyone who is familiar with this series by now must be aware that Hellsing: Ultimate is an action series, that revels in its over the top graphic violence. This volume is no different, in which, the viewer is treated to another blood bath. The action oriented will find more than enough mayhem to satisfy their appetite.
Alucard is truly the anti hero with a lot of style, who defines the word cool. Volume three gives the charismatic vampire a good amount of time to show off more of his abilities. The animation once again is simply stunning throughout, with CG and 3DCG very well blended. The battle sequences here are very entertaining, with some sharp attention to detail. One scene in particular is just simply disturbing in its realism. Alucard rips, tears, and blasts his way through the opposing forces.
The artwork and backgrounds are far better this time around. The fantastic detail in the backgrounds are done in a gorgeous color scheme, with the right amount of lighting and darkness. The settings produce a Gothic and sinister feel that rightfully sets the mood.
The battle during the hotel scene, and the blood thirsty character interactions during these scenes, are taking full advantage of the series best strength, which are the visuals. The Gothic and rock music score only adds greatly to the overall style. I have to also give credit to the sound effects, which are very clear and adds to the style as well. From bones being broken, to stepping in pools of blood, that gives off a light squishing sound that is truly sick.
The character interactions are indeed worth noting, because it involves the stellar voice acting for the English cast. Crispin Freeman as Alucard clearly enjoys his role delivering some of the best, and most blood thirsty dialogue in the series. Victoria Harwood as Integra feels her role as well. Steven Brand as the demented Father Alexander Anderson once again delivers his skin crawling, pre-battle prayer recitals. The voice actors are all great in their roles, and you can feel the chemistry between them.
The plot isn't non existent. There are certain plot points revealed, such as the intent and identity of the mastermind. But the overall intention of this volume is to show off Alucard's vicious nature, which is his love for killing, mayhem, and battle with deadly opponents.
Now, it's time to hit on the part of the series that I've grown to hate, with the red hot intensity of hells fiery flames, because it is the sole reason for my low rating, which greatly effected my overall enjoyment, and it is the out of placed comedy. I tolerated the comedic segments, and kind of gave the previous volume a free pass. However, this time some of the segments were too long, too annoying, and they were too often. The dead horse is going to take a serious beating. This series is too dark and sinister for this type of over the top comedy. The type of comedy I'm talking about happens to be the super deformed characters, with the over exaggerated faces of many emotions. I am watching Hellsing: Ultimate volume three. This is a chapter in the series where people are being stabbed, shot to death, impaled, and heads are literally bitten off. I should not at any point feel like I'm watching Voogies Angel, Azumanga Daioh, or Comic Party. The red flag should go up immediately, simply because I'm mentioning those titles in conjunction with anything Hellsing related. But, for some strange reason die hard anime fans have been eating it up.
The character Seres Victoria is the culprit for most of the comedy. She is very similar to Jar Jar Binks in this volume. Many people sugar coat this series to death, and they speak as if it's the second coming. However, they always fail to mention this obvious clashing of genres. But I won't. I hate this comedic gimmick going on in the series, and that's all there is to it. I can only think of one anime series, that is even more annoying with its genre clashing and it is Elfen Lied.
Now since I got that organized rant out of the way. I'll conclude this review by once again stating: This series is mainly meant for the die hard action junkies. This volume contains far more than enough brutal action, with the purpose of sustaining the action fans interest. If you're the type who can ignore misplaced comedy in your serious anime. Then add at least another star, and at least ten more points to the rating, because my pet peeve is going to be non existent to you. Hellsing: Ultimate volume three is one episode with a 50 minute run time.

seems like this had its up and downs. From your reviews, I believe I saw this one up till the episodes of vol. two. The thing I heard was that this was more faithful to the manga....
