Many years ago I was transplanted to a much wetter and colder climate, where I actually began to miss contact with green in the winter. The result was first a taste for houseplants, and then a desire to have a garden in the summer. But being just as averse to work as my parents were, I definitely opt for the low-maintenance route. Indigenous and invasive plants are terrific. It's Darwinian gardening, in reality--what grows is what survives. And like your drought-resistant example, it's probably ecologically sound, too.
Something tells me that this review of permeable paving is right up your alley. It's kind of the same idea as drought tolerant yards. Great review, by the way! :)
