About Me

I'd like to share what I know about: Books, Anime, Green Living, Vegan Living

I'd like to discover more about: Books, Anime, Foreign Films, Green Living

My user-name was derived from the title of a poem by Edgar Allan Poe. I came to Lunch with the hopes of publishing reviews that would be appreciated by others and reading the reviews of others that hope for the same. I look forward to discovering new books to read and films/series to watch, as well as updating the information for and adding … more

Shigurui: Death Frenzy is exactly what the name implies: A series where the death count is high, and minds are lost or severely disturbed. Indeed, Shigurui succeeds in making the killing of a man look like an art. The story takes place in the 17th century, during Tokugawa Tadanaga's rule, where a tournament … more

I just wanted to share all those feelings with you...

There are so many things that conjure up emotion... The softness of dirt in Spring... Clouds in the Summer sky... The smell of the Autumn wind... The sound of raindrops on a silk umbrella... The chill in the air on the way home from school... The scent of the chalkboard eraser... The sound of a distant truck driving away in the night... Or the safe … more

I just want to see him again...

Voices Of A Distant Star was the first work of up-and-coming director Makoto Shinkai, who has since been declared "the next Miyazaki". While I don't agree with this statement, I do believe that Shinkai is, so far, a great director in his own right.       Voices Of A Distant Star follows … more

I hope you like the taste of coconut...

I’m a vegan that enjoys something sweet from time to time, so when I first tried Turtle Mountain’s soy-based ice cream over a year ago, it was love at first bite (or should I say pint…). However, since then, I have made the decision to consume less soy because of conflicting arguments over the dangers and … more

Recycling comes full circle.

Finally, a company that allows you to recycle your #5 plastic (which aren't accepted for recycling in many communities) and uses them to create new products that you can, in turn, purchase for your own everyday use. From plastic plates and cups to colanders and razors to even toothbrushes, Preserve has it all. All of … more

A Vegan Easter! (5)

in the Vegan Living community
While many of us find ourselves indulging in our kids' Easter candy while they're out searching for eggs on Easter morning (well, not me, because I don't have children, but you get my point), I'm sure that all of us are aware of the real meaning and importance of Easter. In Christian religion, Easter celebrates Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead on the third day of his crucifixion. However, regardless of religion, it is undeniable … more

The Five Most Missed Cartoons From My Childhood. (5)

As a kid, I was a die-hard Nickelodeon fan, though there were a few shows on other channels that I used to enjoy as well. These five shows were either cancelled, are currently only airing in other countries besides the U.S., or only air in the earliest hours of the morning, before anyone is awake to see them. After reading, I would love to hear about any shows that you miss from your childhood.

I've been thinking that we need gps collars to keep track of missing Lunch reviewers. Think that J.R. would approve?

Hi Ulalume. I was just wondering if you were a fan of J.R.R. Tolkien and if you'd like to join my new Tolkien community here on Lunch. Also, will you be starting your own community?
On March 14, 2010

I've actually never heard of J.R.R. Tolkien. I was just browsing through the communities though, and saw that one. Is he/she an author? I'm not a fan yet, but I'd love to become one. I also was thinking about starting a community, but it seems that one has been created for every one of my interests. Apparently a few people thought I was going to start one for anime, but Frank got to it first :)
On March 14, 2010
First, of all, I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not. Tolkien was the English Professor who wrote "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings".
Secondly, there is currently no community devoted to Edgar Allan Poe... hint, hint. "The House of Poe" has a nice ring to it. : )
On March 14, 2010
Ohhh okay. The name does ring a bell now, since you mentioned "The Hobbit" and LOTR. I've never read any of his work though. I suppose I could create a community focused on poetry, both famous/pre-existing works, and original writings by fellow Lunchers, but do you think it would get much traffic?

I don't know if a poetry community would get much attention or not. I write a ton of poetry myself, but I don't know whether a community devoted to poetry would attract many people. Do you write poems?
On March 14, 2010
Yes I do, in fact. I haven't written much lately though. It's always interesting when I run into people that do write it, because I haven't met very many.
On March 14, 2010
Well, if you can find at least three other people on Lunch who write their own original poetry, then I'm in. If it doesn't work out here on Lunch and you have a MySpace page, I'd love to exchange some of our writing and give feedback.
On March 14, 2010
Hmm...I don't think any of the people that I've met so far do so, but it's hard to tell. I'll try. Until then, I do have a Myspace page.
On March 14, 2010
Cool. Well, if you want you could post a bulletin here and ask people if they do. You might surprised.
