They read the Hobbit to me at school; I think I didn't like being read to so I refused to read Lord of the Rings till I was at college and a friend recommended it. Good friend. I was hooked.
i love these books, ive read them multiple times. and i loved the triliogy movies and am excited to see how the long awaited Hobbit movie will turn out.
Okay. Don't get mad that this is popular. Take a read. Develops a love of words and worldbuilding, and a truly deep sense of mythology, one infused with moral and elemental significance.
This has got to be my favorite book of all time. It was introduced to me as a kid. Ignore all the hype. Prepare to hate it, and you might actually enjoy it!
Excellent, life-changing cinematography and storytelling. Be ware of the dead-folks though, they're not in the novel (in any big way), and seem to not quite fit the way they've been added.
