Cathay Pacific
Downgrading it to a +3 due to a letdown! It was a +5 ratings in the past.      We took a flight from HK to Bangkok last month and I was looking forward to the trip. Guess what!? No movies on board the 2 1/2 hour flight!!! There was only TV programs, no new movies. That's unforgivable on a top airliner! I asked and the answer I got was the flight was too short a duration for …

American Airlines
Usually when I fly, I fly Virgin America- they have it right on so many levels that I wish all airlines would use them as a business model. American Airlines should definitely take note. Why? Well, basically American Airlines is the worst airline I've ever flown. Apparently, I'm not alone.      In a Travel and Leisure 2009 of Best and Worst Airlines, American was rated …

Monster Beats by Dr. Dre Solo HD Limited Edition
I was planning on buying a pair of Solo Beats HD either way, but when the Apple employee told me he brought the wrong ones up and that they were a limited edition version, it was kind of a no brainer. For the same price as regular Solo Beats HD, I got a pretty awesome limited edition item. I really dig the gold and black finish.      Having been wanting a pair for a while, I was …

American Airlines Bankruptcy Filing
Not a huge fan of American Airlines (see my review), but it's still sad to see a business struggling.  Hope that with this filing, they'll come back better and stronger, but in this economy, it's hard to tell what's going to happen.

Hurricane Irene
My sister lives in New York City and was stuck waiting out this sucker. She's okay though, and I guess the one good thing you could say about Irene is that the damages was ultimately considerably less than expected. Irene was reduced to tropical storm status when it hit the northeast, but still did over a billion dollars worth of damage in New York City and various points upstate, not even including …

Hurricane Irene
Late last week, Hurricane Irene plowed through the Carolinas and along the   East Coast through New Jersey, New York City , Connecticut, other parts   of New England and Canada. The storm was a Category 1 hurricane with   winds approaching 90 MPH. The most dangerous portions of the storm   were the many flood surges of rising water which leveled small communities   …

Hurricane Irene
The rain is literally pounding down right now. The sheets of water coming off the roof are so heavy that you can't see through them and the wind is still howling out there. Why I'm on the computer I don't know. Not much else to do since everywhere is closed and the satellite is out.      UPDATE:   Well, after a lot of wind and a lot of rain, the trees are …

Hurricane Irene
Over a million passengers are affected by Irene. 3 airports in NYC & Philadelphia & Boston airports are closed until the tropical storm (downgraded from hurricane) is over. So, if you are in the Eastern coast of U.S., you are not going anywhere for the next 2 days or so!

Hurricane Irene
CNN reports flooding in NY City including the subway. The financial damage? At least a billion or so! So far, not too many fatalities so that's good news (if any news could be called good in the case of a hurricane!). Let's pray things won't get worse from here!      Stay safe, Americans!

2011 Eruptions of Grímsvötn Volcano in Iceland
So far it's merely causing travel delays. Some 500 flights have been canceled across Europe. Nothing quite major other than inconveniences for now. Hopefully, that's all there is to it! Just lots of smoke!

KLM
Because of my Northwest Worldperk's status in the past, my flights on KLM were comfortable as I often managed to get great seats and the use of its lounges. KLM is reasonably safe but a tat boring. I don't use much of its service as on most flights to Amsterdam, I slept as soon as I boarded the plane & by the time I awoke, I've arrived! No event and that's all I want!   …

Singapore Airlines
Newest fleet of planes & the most on-time airline I've traveled on. Commonly known as SQ or SIA in Asia, Singapore Airlines is the most profitable airline in the world. It holds a good safety record and good value if you buy your tickets outside Singapore itself! Don't ask me why but it certainly feels like dumping to me for some reason. Never mind that, as a customer, you can be rest …

Air Force One
It may carry the most important person in the U.S., however, it causes traffic chaos whenever it goes! Practically all air traffic has to be halted wherever Air Force One chooses to land. I was in Chicago once and President Bush happened to land that very night causing all the delays in flights out of Chicago and missed connections! It seems that the airport will not have any flight taking off or …

Airlines
A necessary evil ;-) With fuel surcharge and the airport taxes (with some airports, they should pay us for visiting!) ever increasing, I suggest taking the bullet trains! Poor Americans!

Thai Airways International
Thai Airways offer reasonable fares to Europe from Asia with a stopover in Bangkok. Make sure you indulge yourself with a relaxing body massage before the flight and shop for some great souvenirs at the airport while in transit. I love the food on Thai airways and the stewardess are great too.

Cathay Pacific
An airline that serves Haagan Daz ice cream for desserts can't go wrong, can it? Well, according to some frequent travelers friend of mine, nothing wrong with the airline but its frequent miles are so popular that it's very difficult to redeem them as they are often full on those dates they want!
posted a Quick Tip about Shenzhen Airlines. April 14, 2011

Shenzhen Airlines
Not the best airline to fly domestically in China. Shenzhen airlines may offer cheaper fare but often involved a stop along the way. That's a hassle as well as subjecting to lots of delays. Airport delays are quite common in China these days and one wouldn't want to have an extra stop along the way!

SilkAir
A subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, this airline now suffers in sales after the influx of budget airlines. It used to charge much less than Singapore Airlines and got quite a bit of business from travelers. But with the introduction of many low cost airlines flying to exactly the same destinations as it is flying, many travelers have opted for different choices!    SilkAir flies …

Garuda Indonesia
Garuda is actually "is a large mythical bird or bird-like creature that appears in both Hindu and Buddhist mythology". The Indonesian government named the national carrier after the mythical bird. Garuda services mainly domestic market and also Asian countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, China and uses mostly Airbus aircrafts for international flights.      Clearly, …

Cebu Pacific
Quite a popular airline to fly to the Philippines. I flew from Hong Kong on Cebu Pacific to Cebu for a weekend and the fare is actually relatively cheap if you managed to buy them during promotional periods. Check its website for the latest deals! Next trip I'd love to fly to Boracay!
