Fly Me to the Moon
A few years ago space themed computer generated movies were all the rage.  Space Chimps (and Space Chimps 2), Wall-E, Mars Needs Moms, Planet 51, Fly Me to the Moon; rockets, space travel, you really couldn’t go wrong.       Fly Me to the Moon had all of the makings of a blockbuster hit: A pretty decent budget of $25-mil, a solid vocal cast, a US & Canadian …

The Final Destination
* out of ****     "The Final Destination" presents its audiences with an unpleasantly stupid experience that will bore even the most tolerable of horror fans. It was not made for anyone who actually admires the genre, and it's so filled with CGI gore that you can't even call it stylistic. It's the first of the "Final Destination" films to be presented in 3D, but that should only …

Okay, first of all, I'd like to say that when I watched this, I didn't have high expectations for it and even with that mindset, I still felt quite cheated when Avatar was over. What really amazes me is that this is the biggest box office success in cinema history, even though this movie wasn't groundbreaking in any area, save for those graphics, but great graphics alone never make a great …

Ridge Racer 3DS
If you are a fan of Ridge Racer and have played previous incarnations of this game, you will definitely enjoy this New 3D Remix version of the game. This game is my first (and only one at the moment) 3DS game, so I can't really compare it to any other 3DS games. But I can tell you that I'm pretty impressed with the 3D effects of this game so far. There is definitely a wow factor and the car that you …

Nintendo 3DS
Let's be honest, Nintendo was the Pioneer of '3D Stereoscopic' gaming. It tried to mainstream 3D way back in the early 90's with it's 'Virtual Boy'... and failed miserably. And partly because of it's past failure, some would argue that it stifled 3D development because other companies were scared of the same horrific fate. So now... I think it's very fitting that the same company that first tried …

The long awaited James Cameron film Avatar hit theaters this past weekend. While opening weekend raked in an estimated $77 million in domestic ticket sales and an additional $159 million in ticket sales in 106 countries overseas -- excluding Japan and China who are still to come. This weekend Avatar did reach the #9 spot for All Time Worldwide Opening Records and the #2 spot for Top December Opening …

Panasonic VIERA TC-P50GT25 50-inch 1080p 3D Plasma
I recently bought this TV to replace my older 42 inche 720p Panasonic Plasma. I was very happy with the quality of the image of my old TV, but I wanted a bigger TV with full 1080p and 3D compatiblity. This one seemed to fit the bill nicely. I had been waiting for 3D Tvs to finally become affordable. When they first came out, they were around $3000 for a 42 inche. Now that the price has finally come …

Monsters vs. Aliens
I personally think Monsters vs Aliens is one of Dreamworks most underrated films and quite possibly one of the most underrated animated movies of all time. Why do I think this is underrated? Because it's freakin' fun and one of the best times I have ever had at the theatre. Before How To Train Your Dragon came along this was probably my favourite Dreamworks movie, and its still my second favourite …

I finally managed to get in to see it today, a week and two days after opening. Karen went with me and we opted for the non-Imax 3D version. I don't know what Roger Ebert was thinking - maybe invites to some nice parties or something - but I certainly did not leave the theater "feeling the same way I did after seeing Star Wars". No comparison, in fact. Star Wars blew me away. True, …

James Cameron, it seems to me, creates wonderful dishware in which to place the most nourishing and satisfying of those things we humans crave. All those J. Cameron-imprinted tureens and goblets took rare imagination and meticulous craftsmanship to make. Just one piece can cost a Wall Street banker's annual bonus. They boggle. But look inside that tureen and there ain't no vichyssoise. Take …

Avatar is your basic outsider/broken dude finds himself in a place he dosent belong/fit in. And after being there a while he finds himself and he's a new man. Avatar felt like a play it safe movie to me. It was predictable and we've literally seen movies like this a thousand times. The 3-D in my opinion didnt really add anything to the film. So after all that why am I giving this movie a 3 …

*** out of ****   James Cameron knows how to build hype. He also knows how to spend money very well. “Avatar” is the result of how Cameron spends his time and money, being a technical masterpiece but none the less a terribly familiar trip. Sure, it’s very engaging. Sure, it looks pretty. But when watching it, I noticed that everything Cameron shows or does is something …

Monsters vs. Aliens
While it isn’t oft publicized, Pixar and DreamWorks have quite a little game of swapping going on that basically started right from the beginning.  Need evidence? Well you know Pixar’s Toy Story and DreamWorks had a remarkably similar film in Small Soldiers.  DreamWorks had Antz and Pixar A Bug’s Life.  Pixar had Finding Nemo, DreamWorks Shark Tale and …

I'd have to say call your theater and talk to a manager to see what they have as far as seating, stereos and projectors. I'm stuck with only one theater around my parts, but at least it's a good theater. …

Thanks to your reviews, I rented Avatar (not my kind of movie; I didn't think so) - and I loved it. The special effects were phenomenal, the acting superb, and the story line was simple yet brilliant. Seeing it with surround sound at home was good enough, but I can only imagine how superb it was at the theater. Thank you guys and gals for expanding my horizons!!

Hi, JR...I'd say it varies on each area, but.... I usually go for theaters equipped with SSDS (Sony Surround Digital System), THX-certified equipment and IMAX on some occasion. Theaters such as LOWES …
