Well, I always had German shepherds & German Pointers!!Then I had a round with Poodles!!lastly I had a maltese/Yorkie.........All of these dogs are fine,great pets, I am not speaking against any dog!!But Chihuahuas oh mymymymy, all I have missed out on all of these years!!
My Daughter said one morning over Latte' at Starbucks lol.....lets go look at these chihuahuas..well,we got chihuahuas..the best move ever.
This dog trained instantly..I honestly cannot recall any potty accidents but for the first day!! I kid you not, you show the dog once, it is like , they get it!! The dog quickly learns words,(understands !!!) and loves to go ByeBye...didn't have to be trained to a harness & leash, took to it like it was suppose to be..The thing with these mexican chihuahuas..LOVE,just love them as much as they give love to you, they are the best lap dogs ever.and ,they are so beautiful,cozy,snuggly,as you can see, so cute!!! Even when they give you a run for it....ya, when you have an appt. and you can't catch the dog..I mean I have cried...God please help me get Lola,I can't catch her & I will be late..yes God stopped her from playing chase with me!!
If I leave the room,these dogs do not whine like other dogs, oh no, they sound to me like they are whistling or yodeling hahaha!!!Even their barks,tiny & sharp & ohhhhh so cute...she has taken to table food, big time!! She sleeps snuggled to me all night long,oh yes...she has never wet the bed..nope, never an accident.
She sits like a statue watching me do dishes & cooking!!! Ahhhhh, she spotted the new bird bath on the front patio & barked & growled at it..I was shocked, lol hahaha.....this tiny 3 month old 2 lb chihuahua....how cute was that? Hello again , lunch chatters!!Guess what? Lola is now 4 mos old. I emptied out my front dining area, to convert to a sun room :) Well, I threw out a lot of things,now, I had 3 purses on the living room floor to go into a give away bag..a plastic garbage bag on the floor near them...you got it lol hahaha, I looked & Lola was pushing a purse with her nose into the plastic trash bag !!! lol , she got it in too hahaha, she was helping Mommy,now how cute & smart is that??
The new thing with my tiny chihuahua is: every time I am leaving...she tap dances in front of me,lol smile !!rolling those(mexican eyes at me ,and she even appears to be bowing lol hahaha, yes, I have to take her with me,who could resist that?
you know what? she has no hair under her chin right on down her entire belly & she has wrinkles in her neck ,on her arms, I mean like a baby!!! she weighs 3 lbs now.
One more funny & cute one!! She was sleeping on the couch next to me yesterday, I leaned over & was kissing her face (between the eye & ear!!She was making me feel sleepy...so I was making that sound (kind of like growling,back of your throat.mmmmmmm and she would do it right back to me lol hahaha hahahaha :) she woke up & jumped with a baby voice kind of yell,she wanted to sleep!!!
lastly , I placed empty bins in front of the recliner & at one end of the sofa...so she can jump up * & down.....after all, she is the best little girl on the planet!!! See you next time...Joan

Ok, I went to Fla ,2 flights down & 2 flights back..My 4 lb beautiful 5 mo old chihuahua,Lola flew with me, in my arms.This Dog was a laugh a minute..Her expressions are beyond explanation ,except they appear as human expressions lol haha,she has wrinkles over her eyebrows & huge mexican eyes!! treat chihuahuas like babies,never be mean to them,socialize them & see how funny they are & what great & fantastic companions that they are.they are so loyal & so cuddly ,it's up to you if you have a great chihuahua or not..They thrive on love!!!

The Chihuahua is the smallest breed of dog in the world and is named after the state of Chihuahua in Mexico.
Breed standards for this dog do not generally specify a height, only a weight and a description of their overall proportions. As a result, height varies more than within many other breeds. Generally, the height ranges between six and ten inches. However, some dogs grow as tall as 12 to 15 inches. Both British and American breed standards state that a Chihuahua must not weigh more than six pounds for conformance competition. However, the British standard also states that a weight of two to four pounds is preferred and that if two dogs are equally good in type, the more diminutive or smaller is preferred. The Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) standard calls for dogs ideally between 1.5 and 3.0 lb, although smaller ones are acceptable in the show ring. Pet-quality Chihuahuas (that is, those bred or purchased as companions rather than show dogs) often range above these weights, even above ten pounds if they have large bone structures or are allowed to become overweight. This does not mean that they are not purebred Chihuahuas; they do not meet the requirements to enter a conformation show. Oversize Chihuahuas are seen in some of the best, and worst, bloodlines.
