A children's Halloween classic

This DVD contains the classic Peanuts Halloween special, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. With an endearing story and a great musical score by Vince Guaraldi, it's a special that can enjoyed by anyone young or old.

There is also a second Peanuts special included on this disc ("You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown"). In this special, Linus ends up running for student council president. Can Linus win the election, or could his belief in the Great Pumpkin ruin his chances?

I have enjoyed both of these Peanuts specials for many years, and it was nice to have them on one DVD. However, I was disappointed by the fact that there were no special features included on this disc. Even though there may not be any special features, I still appreciate the fact that I own this release and have the ability to watch this holiday special every Halloween.

I wrote this review after watching a copy of this DVD that my husband and I purchased.

Very likely my favorite televised holiday special. I own it on DVD now so I can watch it whenever I feel like which is nice. Snoopy's great!

Although hundreds of Halloween TV specials bombard us each October with cartoons and shows but this is my personal all-time favorite. Charles Shultz was a visionary artist. He transcends time and race barriers to create these wonderful characters anyone can identify with. This one has it all! Wonderful hand drawn animation with warm watercolor backgrounds that capture the essence of Autumn so vividly along with the terrific scoring by jazz musician Vince Guarldi.    For those …

When you think of Halloween movies, there really aren't many Halloween movies that the whole family can watch and enjoy. Most Halloween pictures are horror movies not suitable for anyone younger than sixteen. There's GHOSTBUSTERS, but many parents won't let young children watch that because the ghosts are too scary. E.T. takes place at Halloween, but nobody really considers E.T. to be a Halloween movie. The only Halloween picture that the whole family can enjoy is the little 30 minute cartoon that …

Pros: The animation and music     Cons: Under thirty minutes long     The Bottom Line: The peanuts gang in a classic Halloween tale     Plot Details: This opinion reveals everything about the movie's plot. At my son’s preschool class each week the teacher passes out a video for the students to take turns bringing home to enjoy with their family. The video in the backpack on Monday was the Peanuts Classic, It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie …

About this tv show

Wiki

Charlie Brown gets rocks in his trick-or-treat bag, Linus awaits a visitation from the Great Pumpkin in his terribly sincere pumpkin patch (while the adoring little Sally sits tight with him), Snoopy falls asleep, Lucy harasses Schroeder, and Pig-Pen kicks up a dust storm even beneath his costume in this classic television broadcast. Funny stuff, but also graced with Charles Schultz's more poignant and gently satiric themes from the 1960s on the influence of faith, failure, and hope in our lives.--Tom Keogh
