My Summer Reading List

  • May 18, 2010
If I am going to go by this dreadful So-Cal weather we are having this May, summer is not going to be all fun and games at the beach. I decided to stock up on my book itenerary for the summer. Here are the ones I am looking forward too. My goal is to write up something about them as I go through them all. I had to make the list really ambitious so I had lots of books to choose from, and don't revert to watching Friends marathons on DVD.
3
Push: A Novel
Recommended by Athira - A Nitty-gritty novel: Powerful and thought-provoking!

Have yet to see the movie, but want to read the book first.
4
7
The Carrie Diaries
In honor of one of my favorite TV shows and the sequel to the movie, Sex and the City.
8
Honolulu
Has been on my list since I read and fell in love with Moloka'i.
10
The Help
Recommended by Sheri_in_Reho - An amazingly satisfying first novel--except for the very end

Started it last summer at home and forget it. I only read the first chapter but it was already so good.

Hey, I like cooler SoCal weather. When it's hot I cannot read as my fingers stick to pages and I get ornery and itchy. It's easier to read even in summer when it's a breeze!

I'm so glad you enjoyed "The Sex Lives of Cannibals". You might like to try out "Lost on Planet China" by the same author which I'm just finishing now. It's totally different but exactly the same. Try to figure THAT out!

I should really follow in your foot steps and read books instead of Hulu-ing this summer. Great idea, Aria! Can't wait to read your commentary on these books. Actually, I think it'd be really cool to here your before and after takes on them! ;)

Two of the books on your list are currently in my "to read" pile; "Columbine" and "Sex Lives of Cannibals." Might have to move them up on my reading list. :-)
