LeBron James... the new Michael Jordan?

I was watching an episode of Beauty of the Geek when one of the girls was asked in an elimination round "Who was the rookie of the year in 2004 who was drafted straight from high school?"
She said something along the lines of "LeBron James... see when it's about a good looking guy, I know the answer!"

While I don't necessarily agree that LeBron James is the hottest player out there (I usually pick my favorite teams based on good looking players), he definitely has a LOT going for him that makes him such a great player and a great person.

There's the obvious, that he is a great player: all the points, all the assists, rebounds... he defines a superstar. That and he was drafted straight out of high school and has lived up to the superstar expectations.

He can score, but there's a lot more to being a great player (and great TEAM player at that) than just being able to get the ball through the net.  He knows when to pass, and he knows how to bring out the best in his teammates by passing the ball and getting their numbers up.  It's not all about hogging the ball and showing off your skills. Ahem... I won't mention any names, I'm just saying.. LeBron James is goooood.

Plus, as an NBA superstar, you are automatically the role model for loads of kids.  I mean just the fact that he hasn't had anything about him (mediawise) blow up in his face yet says a lot.

And, even though he is arguably the best player currently in the NBA (I will vouch for him and say he IS the best player but many will disagree), he is just as important in the game as he is on the sidelines.  Although he may be the reason why his team has gotten so far and done so well in the past few years, you can see him on the sidelines jumping, cheering and supporting as enthusiastically as FANS do when a rookie or anyone else on the team makes a good play or a clutch shot. Now that, is someone you can call a great team player!

I had no idea about Mr. James! Then again, I have no idea about a lot of sports things!

Regarding Lebron's decision to go to Miami; Great move for Miami, not sure how Cleveland will recover, I imagine it will be a long road back to the playoffs for them.

There's nothing like throwing something into the garbage can from 10 feet away and yelling "LEBRON!" or "KOBE!" and having it go in.

He'd be 5 but he never won a ring :)

About this basketball player

Wiki

LeBron Raymone James is a NBA player born in Akron, Ohio. James was discovered in his high school days at St. Vincent - St. Mary's High School where he was nicknamed "King James" and "Mr. Basketball."  In addition to his 29 point game average for his high school basketball team, James was also a football player where he was scouted by college football recruiters.
In 2003, James was first draft pick for the Cleveland Caveliers right out of high school.  In his first game against the Sacramento Kings, he scored 25 points, had 9 assists, 6 rebounds and 4 steals.

James has led the Cleveland Caveliers to the NBA Playoffs in 2006, 2007 and 2008. He has played for the United States in the 2004 Olympics (bronze medal) and the 2008 Olympics where the team took gold.

James career averages clock in at 27.3 points per game, 6.6 assists and 6.9 rebounds.  He has made his number "23" in the footsteps of Michael Jordan, and has stated he would want to be like Jason Kidd if he had to choose one player to follow.

He is also the first black man to appear on the cover of Vogue, and the third man after Richard Gere and George Clooney.
