The Runaways were the first and last all girl punk band. Period. End of story. There is no room for discussion. Joan Jett went on to produce the greatest punk band to come out of L.A. (The Germs 'GI'). They are and always will be the baddest chicks in the land. #therunaways

The Slits
Let's face it, The Slits have more of a dancehall/reggae sound than hardcore punk, but they're hardcore, nonetheless. They supported The Clash during their White Riot tour, alongside The Buzzcocks and Ari Up is one of the greatest front women of all time. Plus they have mad love for @LA_Sancho. :) #slits

Lorna Doom
Lorna still rips it on the bass just like she did back in 1977 when she originally joined The Germs. She is one of the sweetest people you will meet but don't eff with her. She's punk through and through.

Belinda Carlisle
If you think Belinda Carlisle's only claim to fame was when she was with The Go-Go's - think again and look up 'Dottie Danger'. Another little tidbit, The Go-Go's were originally named The Misfits.
5
Alice Bag
One of the first females of punk, Alice Bag fronted the band The Bags as well as Castration Squad. She now teaches at inner city schools and writes about Women in L.A. Punk on her own blog.
6
Jane Wiedlin
She looks like a pixie, but she's really a dominatrix. No, seriously, she is. She is also one of the first females to write, play and produce her own music. She also has game. She hit on my cousin a few years ago at Sunset Junction in L.A. It was radical.

Exene Cervenka
Right hand woman to John Doe, or should I say John Doe was her right hand man? Exene and the boys from 'X' put the L.A. punk scene on the map with their song 'Los Angeles' which went on to become a mainstream hit. X still performs now and again, and their sound is one that cannot be duplicated.
