reviewed Orval Trappist Ale. June 25, 2010
Orval Trappist Ale
I've been gone for a while, but I'm back on lunch with a review of a classic Trappist ale.      Whenever I uncap an Orval, the first thing I do is smell it. I love this beer’s …

Ballast Point Victory at Sea
In last week’s beer fest report, I forgot to mention one particularly tasty sample: Ballast Point’s Victory at Sea. From what I heard after the festival, this coffee vanilla imperial porter …

reviewed Thanksgiving. November 26, 2009
So, what’s on your Thanksgiving drink menu? Wine, perhaps? Or maybe Cider? Wait, did you say water?! That’s it—I submit beer as the holiday beverage of choice! Luckily, I’m here …
reviewed Papago Brewing Company. November 23, 2009
Papago Brewing Company
Papago Brewing Company is a little brewpub crammed into a Scottsdale strip mall. It may not sound impressive, but wait till you see their beer menu. Of the 30 beers on tap, I saw craft brews, imports, …
reviewed Oskar Blues Old Chub. November 20, 2009
Oskar Blues Old Chub
What’s the story behind Old Chub, you ask? No idea. The name has me stumped (isn’t chub a kind of fish?), but according to Oskar Blues brewery, it’s a strong Scottish-style ale that …
