As a beer lover always searching for the best tasting beer I felt I had to review one of my favorite beer if not my favorite beer. The Paulaner Salvator Doppelbock goes down in my books as one of the best tasting beers out there! I found this beer while I was living in Bonn, Germany. Although the primary beer served in Bonn is Kölsch due to the fact that Cologne (Köln) is a few miles up the Rhine, there was a fairly large pub in the city center that served Paulaner Salvator Doppelbock which is from Munich. I would go in on Tuesdays for Happy Hour and get a litter for 2 Euro. I enjoyed the beer so much that when I came back to the States I searched all lover for it and found that a couple stores such as Bristol Farms sells it.

Paulaner Salvator Doppelbock is a darker golden beer that has a great taste. When poured into a glass the beer leave about a half inch of foam and you can already smell the caramel and chocolate in the air. There is not a lot of carbonation in the bottle which I feel is good because that can take away from the taste of the beer. Once you taste the beer your mouth will fill with a sweet taste full of chocolate and bread. You'll then get a light taste of fruit followed by a tiny alcohol taste. Paulaner Salvator Doppelbock has an alcohol content of 7.9% which is right in the area of a good Dopplebock.

I highly recommend this beer to those of you who thoroughly enjoy a good beer. This is not a beer for pounding but rather a sipping beer. Have fun trying it out! Auf Weidersehen!
