My kind of dark beer, you can stand a spoon up in it!!!

OK so who the heck am I to tell you what the best beer is?  Well, let me start out by saying that as a retired Army officer and helicopter pilot, “I’ve been around the world three times and have seen every dog and pony show known to mankind!!!  Helicopter pilots are euphemistically referred to by those who “walk” in the army as “lounge lizards.”   I am guilty as charged!  I’ve been in almost every “juke joint” and “honky tonk” around the world.  However, consider the fact that like many of my army brethren I am fond of stating that, “my favorite beer is free beer, and my all time favorite beer is, cold free beer”!!!  All that being said why am I rating a beer?  Because when I do get serious about my beer drinking I have tasted more than I care to admit to my kids.
St. Pauli Girl Special Dark™ is one of my favorite beers I came to know this much sought-after beer when I was in Germany.  Brewed in Bremen Germany since 1965, St. Pauli Girl Special Dark™ is a full flavored beer with an alluring amber color. It has a pleasing rich malty taste, with an enjoyable aroma of hops.  No offensive after taste.  I enjoy St. Pauli Girl Special Dark™ with meat dishes and stews especially in the fall and winter months.

My kind of dark beer, you can stand a spoon up in it!!! My kind of dark beer, you can stand a spoon up in it!!! My kind of dark beer, you can stand a spoon up in it!!!

About this beer

St. Pauli Girl beers are brewed and bottled by the St. Pauli Brauerei, which is located within the Beck's brewery in Bremen, Germany. The brand derives its name from the fact that the original brewery was built upon St Paul's Monastery. However, the name choice also seems to be an allusion to Hamburg's famous red light district, St. Pauli, which is somewhat reflected in the advertising slogans.

There are currently three brands of beer brewed: St. Pauli Girl Lager, St. Pauli Girl Special Dark and St. Pauli Non-Alcoholic Malt Beverage. The beer is only produced for export and is not sold in Germany.

St Pauli Girl brews all of their beers according to the Reinheitsgebot (German purity law) of 1516. The distinctive label depicting a woman wearing traditional outfits was introduced in the 1800s with the advent of the bottled beer. The local artist commissioned for the label drew his inspiration from the waitresses at the time.

St Pauli Girls Beers were first introduced into select US markets in 1965. National Distribution began in 1975. St. Pauli Non-Alcoholic was first sold in the United States in 1991. St Pauli Girl is the number two selling German beer in the United States.
