A Doppelbock beer brewed by Privatbrauerei Höss der Hirschbräu in Sonthofen, Germany.
< read all 1 reviewsDeep, dark and rich reddish brown on the pour, completely transparent but so dark as to approach opaque! Does that make any sense to you? A lovely thick tan head on the pour but no lasting power and no lacing at all. The head dissipates to virtually nothing within minutes if not seconds after the initial pour.
A sweet aroma translates nicely into the drinking ... caramel, some miscellaneous fruitiness and a slight hint of smoke. The pour produces minimal carbonation but that doesn't translate into an impression of flatness in the drinking.
Here's the bottom line ... I'm not a fancy beer afficionado and I can't always translate what I taste into words. But I know what I like. This is a repeatable beer ... both on isolated occasions and strung out two or three in a row.
