And we thought distracted driving only meant texting and web browsing. In a foreshadowing of the abject stupidity that almost brought down the entire US auto industry, the "foward looking" Chrysler actually offered a mobile turntable on some of their luxury models in the mid 1950's. There's no mention of whether the white opera gloves came as an option.

When I was around 17 I had a buddy who had one of those things in his car. Everytime he hit any kind of a bump in the road the tone arm skipped across the record. As silly as this was it was probably no worse than 8 track tapes which were an abomination from the get-go.

Michael, I never knew this was an option. I had seen reel to reel in a car which makes sense. I guess I want to know what happende when you hit a pot hole?
