A Quick Tip by MNeulander

"Casablanca" is my favorite Boggie movie.  It has great storyline, great dialogue, (sorely missing in most modern movies), great cast.  Ingrid Bergman is the BOMB!!!  The entire cast was absolutely great, major and minor players, many who by the way were refugees from war torn Europe themselves.  Great music.  A must see classic!!

I am a retired Army officer.  Soldiers have a well known phrase among themselves for whenever someone took an item, say a tool, from another soldier without permission.  "Did you 'Bogart ' my pliers"?  Used because Bogie had a rep for taking other men's women in movies.

What's the film about?   Its hard to say what this film is about.  Its a war movie, its a romantic movie, its a period drama.  Yet its none of these and at the same time all of these.  In my opinion its a timeless movie about two people who are reunited at the wrong place and at the wrong time.  Yet its the right place and the perfect time for the story.        Who was the classic actor/actress?  Humphrey Bogart was never better. …

Everyone I know loves Casablanca or at least knows about it. Everyone should watch this movie at least once in their life - a true treasure of a film.

World War II Morocco springs to life in Michael Curtiz's (THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD, YANKEE DOODLE DANDY) classic love story. Colorful characters abound in Casablanca, a waiting room for Europeans trying to escape Hitler's war-torn Europe. Humphrey Bogart plays Richard "Rick" Blaine, a cynical but good-hearted American whose cafi is the gathering place for everyone from the French Police to the black market to the Nazis. When his long-lost love, Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman), surfaces in Casablanca with her Resistance leader husband, Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid), Rick is pulled into both a love triangle and a web of political intrigue. Ilsa and Victor need to escape from Casablanca, and Rick may be the only one who can help them. The question is, will he?

Top-notch performances include Claude Rains as the chief of the French police and the major authority figure in Unoccupied France, Peter Lorre as the doomed Senor Ugarte, Sydney Greenstreet as Senor Ferrari, and Dooley Wilson as Rick's loyal fri...
