Favorite Cafe Beverages

  • Sep 26, 2009
I really shouldn't consume as many sugary, caffeinated beverages as I do, but it's really hard when there's a drive-thru Starbucks so close to me, and it's also hard since I spend so much time Lunching in cafes.  Oh, and they're so tasty!  Here's my lists of favorite beverages to order at cafes.
1
Chai Latte
Mmmmm, there's nothing like a cinnamon-y, literally spiced up drink that gives you a slight boost of energy. I like these slightly sweetened. These are welcome anytime of the day :D
2
The caramel macchiatos that are served at Starbucks are a misnomer because they're actually caramel lattes, but that's alright, I'll still drink it! I try not to consume too much sugar on a daily basis, but on days when I feel like I've been good eating-wise, I let myself have one of these :)
3
Just the perfect amount of espresso, steamed milk and foam. I love cafes that serve this in a big bowl! I never finish them, but they're just cool looking :)
4
Tea
Sometimes I order tea lattes. Once in a while, I might add sugar and cream. But most days, I drink it straight. Different teas have different benefits, but they're all still a great way to detox!
5
I have these when I want a super frothy espresso drink. I love cafes that serve these in porcelain cups with a little plate!
6
I order mochas when I'm feeling like something chocolatey. Same rules apply as the caramel macchiato though; I only have these when I don't plan on consuming too much sugar that day because these things can are usually really sweet!
7
Frappuccino
Fraps, Fredos, blended drinks, whatever, I love 'em. Sometimes I'll even order these on a cold day. Oh man, the ones with the perfect consistency are so bad for you since you've gotta use real sugar and whole milk to make 'em!
8
These are the perfect drink when I'm working late night, or just want a late night warm beverage, at a cafe as their lack of caffeine wouldn't keep me up too late. So tasty. I prefer these Mexican style with cinnamon!
9
I have these when I don't have time to enjoy a handcrafted beverage, just want a quick boost of energy, or know that I wouldn't have time to use the bathroom (hey, I have a small bladder!). Sometimes I'll add a bit of sugar, but I usually just gulp it straight. Quick shot and I'm done!
10
Coffee
I guess I'm a bit of a cafe snob, or just high maintenance and usually go for handcrafted beverages, but when I'm in a hurry, or I'm at a place where only straight up coffee is served, I'll settle. I always switch it up with coffee. Sometimes I'll have it black, other times I'll add syrup, sugar, or condensed milk, sometimes cream.

What did you think of this list?

Drive-thru Starbucks can just make life so much easier! You're no. 1 (Chai) is my no. 1 too! We have good taste:)

Diet, my dear! Ah, we do have very similar taste in coffee :-) English tea is not something I like though, unless it's cold lemon tea! Chinese teas are great though.

I've noticed based on your drink reviews!  And I love Chinese teas as well, as evidenced by my Chinese tea culture review :)

Yay for Chai Latte!  That's probably my favorite.  But I like the Caramal Macchiato... a lot.  Sometimes I like it more.  Actually, I like everything on this list... just in a different order.

At least we can agree on what's #1 and #2 :D
