Okay, coffee shops are a dime a dozen these days. You've got your franchises like Starbucks and Coffee Bean, your mom and pops, but they don't even compare with the Conservatory. Bar none, this is the best coffee I've had in Southern California and second best ever. First being, the Coffee Gallery in Haleiwa, HI and the third being Catalina Coffee company in Redondo Beach. One thing these two places have in common and what now convinces me is the only way to really get a great cup of joe, is that they have their own in-house roasting machine. Like a 20 year scotch, the coffee here is smooth, silky, and strong. They happen to also have some great teas for someone who's out for decaffeinated drinks. They have this really great tea "Lemon Chiffon Rooibos" which is fantastic.
Every cup of coffee I've had here is amazing and they always mix it up. I'm still getting to know the varieties but it's an adventure just checking it out.
Let me end with service. Gone are the days of personal service at coffee shops. This place is designed so that an individual person takes your whole order, delivers your order, and charges you. Personal service all the way and very unpretentious. There are no special names, just sizes or ounces. Good pastries but really this place is about the coffee and service. You can also buy beans to go. I highly recommend this place.
