The first Tintin book by the Belgian Comic book Genius Herge (Georges Remi - GR switched over RG pronounced Herge). This one was just a byproduct by Herge while being busy on other things for the paper he worked on so the story just rambles on with little coherence and the humour is influenced by slap- stick black and white movies of the time, so it is very different from what Tintin eventually becomes. Buy this only if you want the complete collection.

Still little structure to the story and humour a bit childish and very slap stick. Very un PC today of course and Herge was later on rather shamed of this story but in it´s favour it is very popular in Congo itself. Buy if you want them all, if not stay away.

Things are starting to get better but the story has little plot and as before Tintin just goes from one extreme situation to the next one. The humour is getting better and some of the depiction of America are quite funny.

Now the Genius of Herge is starting to come through. Good story with a beliveable plot and Herges hallmark of the blend of Suspense and Humour is starting to shine. In this one we are introduced to the humourous and oh so silly Thompson twins who will become regular charaters in the series.

Fantastic book, with this book everything changes, Herge became friends with Chang From China who urged him to be accurate while drawing and writing about China. So Herge became obsessed with detail and accuracy and the results are stunning. Marvelous Comic Book full of suspense and humour. From now one Herges book are pure Genius.

Herge pokes fun of dictators and political turmoil in South America. Good blend of fun and thrills.

Brilliant book. Tintin on the hunt of money conterfeiters. Tintin´s dog Snowy has some Great moments in this one and is very humourous and the silly Thompsons twins are great too.

Great mystery for Tintin to solve and he just manages to save a country from revolution. Herge creates an imaginary country, Balkan like and the books shows great detail in the description of the country. The recurring character the opera singer Bianca Castafiori is introduced here.

Tintin on the hunt of dope smugglers and this is the book where one of the great characters of the series is introduced, Captain Haddock who is argumentative, grumpy middle aged man with a slight alchoholic problem but with a heart of Gold.

Tintin and Captain Haddock with a team of scientist go on a search for a meteorite that fell into the sea. Grand fun as usual full af suspense and humour and the marvelous drawings of Herge are always a treat.

This book and the next one tell the same story of a search for a treasure of one of Captains Haddock´s ancestor. This first book is mostly about how they find out about the treasure and where it might be. This book is the one that Spielberg and Jackson are filming.

In this second one they go on a sea voyage to find the treasure and here we are introduced to one of the great characters of the series the Mad Scientist Professor Cuthbert Calculus. In the end of this book Haddock and Calculus buy a Grand Mansion which features in most of the books later in the series.

My favorite of the series. A mystical book about an expedition to the Andes and and the mysteries that follows. A Great Masterpiece, the comic book to take to the desert island. The storie continuous in the next one.

Tintin and Haddock goes to Peru to rescue Calculus from the inkas, lots of suspense and mystery fantastically drawn. These two are one of Herge greatest creations and that´s saying a lot.

Tintin, Captain Haddock and the Thomson twins on a wild adventure in the middle east involved in a strange case concerning oil. Grand humour and thrills.

In this one and the next the gang goes to the moon, incredible attention to detail, all fantastically drawn. This one is about the preparation of the moon trip.

The second book about the moon travel, here the actual trip is done and it is full of suspense, political intrique, surprises and grand humour. The moon books are great Masterpieces.

Calculus is kidnapped and Tintin and Haddock go on a rescue misson. Great spy thriller and on of the best one´s in the series. Herge in absolute top form.

Another grand adventure, this one gets the gang involved in a slave trade and arm deals. Still top notch comic fun.

A Grand Masterpiece and one of the most beautifully drawn book´s of Herge. Tintin has a dream about his friend Chang from the Blue Lotus and is sure he has survived a plane crash in the mountains of Tibet and goes to search for him. Haddock grumbles and moanes but like a true friend follows Tintin into the danger.

This one happens all at the Manor house of Haddock and Calculus and manages to create suspense without nothing of significance happening. The opera singer Bianca Castafiori comes to visit and behaves like a spoiled primadonna. Great book in the spirit of P.G. Woodehouse.

A great mystery book involving UFO´s and other strange things. Masterfully drawn and full of suspense.

The last book that Herge finished and involves most of the familiar characters. It´s a good one but not a Masterpiece, as before has a lot of suspense and humour and brilliantly drawn.

This one is just in a manuscript form and was never finished because Herge died while working on this one so it only gives an idea about what might have happened.

This is a catalogue from the Herge Museum located in Louvain-La -Neuve just outside Brussell Belgium. This Museum is a must for all Herge fans. It opened in the spring of 2009 and is full of the fabulous works of Herge.

This is a great book which shows a lot of the technical detail that Herge used and the amazing attention to detail that was Herge´s forte.

Great to know there will be a film coming out. I recently started watching the animated series and am currently disappointed, despite being 45 minute long the episodes skip some of the best humor/plot details, I think they are more for a younger audience than the books, still, its nice too see it in animation- and that's why I am waiting for the film! I did now know about 25-31, need to check them out. While Herge did not complete Alp-Art, someone did- he just can't publish it due to copyright laws, you can find it online. It is not Herge, but I like it. And then there is the book version of Lake of Sharks, and all the extras... Thanks for sharing.

Yes I think the Animation is absolute Rubbish, it does not have the Great quality and the fantastic attention to detail that Herge put into his Art.

Great list, and I like all the explanations! I have the Blue Lotus one from an online auction but I don't know a lot about TinTin. I did not know a movie was coming out. Thanks.

Yes for some reason Tintin is not so well known in USA but he is Immensly popular in Europe, perhaps the Spielberg film wil change that.

Yes the documentary is very good and based on one of the few interviews Herge gave and it´s one of the best one, so if you are a Tintin fan it´s a must.
