I recently read "Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos #148" and was reminded why I always preferred Sgt. Rock to Sgt. Fury. The men known as the Howlers kept their extreme personalities, even in combat. Furthermore, Sgt. Rock never had to use the unusual and absurd solutions to get out of trouble, in this book Fury is rescued off the edge of a cliff by grabbing the undercarriage of a passing plane. Does anyone else share this opinion?

Fury was too busy going off to found SHIELD. Truthfully, I never read much of either but Sgt Rock did kind of remind me of Vic Morrow in Combat.
Yea, I do, especially during the wild and crazy silver age and Sgt. Fury's fight with SHIELD.
When the comic changed to Nick Fury Agent of Shield, it was more a spy comic than a war comic. Great art by the way, from Jim Steranko! Sgt. Rock had his good and bad too.
I enjoyed the realistic stories and the great art by Joe Kubert, who is still alive, and runs an art school in New York.
