So after 3 big movies, Spiderman is being rebooted with a new star and a new start for another run for boxoffice greens. Do you think it was necessary or do you think Spiderman 3 was THAT BAD that it warrants the reset button? (Keep in mind Spiderman 3 is NOT that bad, it's not Superman IV or Batman and Robin.)

Spiderman certainly could have continued. I don't think the origin can be as good as the first film and we already had Doctor Connors in the last two films so the lizard tale could have continued. I guess not having Toby McGuire and Sam Rami available made the execs decide to start over. Spiderman 3 could have been good if they only had one villain (probably only the Sandman). The Venom character ruined the film. We were left with Peter and Mary Jane in an uncertain relationship (they did get married in the comics) and we still had Gwen Stacy and Betty Brant available for possible romantic interests. I would have preferred them continuing the original series.

I just saw a preview trailer of this film. I think I would like it better, mainly because they brought back Gwen Stacy and seem to be adapting the original stories from the 1960s, complete with real webshooters!

No, they were not as bad as others, such as Catwoman or the Punisher films either. The problem was with the stars wanting more money I think and the criticism of the last film. They missed an opportunity with the Lizard. They build him up in the first two films and then don't do anything with the character. A reboot should not start with the origin story again. That would be so lame. I hope it does well; I'll certainly watch it.
