I just saw this not an hour ago and I can safely say that it is one of the best comic book films of all time. The acting is great, the story (essentially about an amateur superhero's days in crime-fighting) is great, the action is great, and it has some great humour mixed with a fair amout of gore and swearing. That being said, this movie is definitely not for everyone, especially those who aren't comfortable with a young girl swearing and killing people. There are also some reasonably bloody scenes, so I would advise the squeamish to steer clear of this film

Although all the actors in the film are great, none of them are as great as Chloe Moretz. This was her first major film role, and boy did it put her on the map. It put her on the map not only as a good actor, but also now as one of the most in-demand child actors on screen today. Who knows, she could be the next Macaulay Culkin, except hopefully she'll stay out of the tabloids and have a career into adulthood (unlike Culkin). Hit Girl is a great character, and I got the impression that Moretz was inspired by Clint Eastwood's westerns, whereas Nicolas Cage (her character's father) drew from Adam West in the old Batman TV show.

The other actors all did incredibly well, including Aaron Johnson in his first mainstream film role as the titular character. I never really liked Nicolas Cage as an actor, but he actually didn't do badly as his character, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse actually made a surprisingly good villain and left plenty of grounds for a sequel, which I just found out that they are making. Nothing much else to be said, but great performances for a great film.

I adored the visual style, costumes, and camerawork of this film. It wasn't really CGI, just fights (most likely with stuntmen) and clever camera work. The costume design of this movie is wonderful, my personal favourites being the costumes of Hit Girl and Red Mist. The violence, however graphic it may or may not be, is incredibly stylized, and I think that with comic adaptations, that's often the best way to go.

The story is also well told and again, leaves plenty of grounds for a sequel. It's essentially about the adventures of Kick-Ass (AKA Dave Lizewski), a major comic book geek who decides to take crime into his own hands and become a superhero. He encounters Hit Girl (Moretz) and her father Big Daddy (Cage), and he joins them on their quest to kill the man who put Big Daddy in jail, Frank D'Amico. That brings us to Chris (Mintz-Plasse), D'Amico's slightly inept son, who serves as an auxilliary villain and essentially a puppet for his father to destroy Kick-Ass.

If you haven't seen this movie, definitely check it out. Even though it's not for everyone, it's still a good film and worth a rental. I truly think Chloe Moretz is a great actress and deserves a Best Supporting Actress Oscar when the season comes around, because she did a great job and was by far the most awesome character in the movie. All in all, a great film that will probably be rewarded when the major awards season (AKA the Oscars) comes around. Hey, if The Dark Knight was nominated for a few oscars, Kick-Ass probably will too. I know it's been said before, but Kick-Ass truly does kick some serious ass.

I liked this movie though I think it is a such a watered down version of the source material. Great review!

A friend invited me to see Kick Ass and I went knowing nothing about the movie besides it was a comedy.  I love seeing movies that way.      I was drawn into the plot until the introduction of Hit Girl and the level of violence.  This 13-year old girl single handedly kills numerous grown men using a variety of weapons, laughing much of the time.      On one hand, sure, it was pretty cute to have a super hero girl.  On the other, it was too …

Kick-Ass: It's Watchmen minus emotional drama and Dr. Manhattan
I've had my fair share of watching comic book based movies (Spider-Man, Fantastic 4, Iron Man, X-Men, Watchmen, Batman) and each of them have unique ways of presenting the super hero and their heroic actions. But Kick-Ass kinda veers the opposite and kinda reminds me of seeing Watchmen (even the promotional posters kinda relate).      The reason why I reference Watchmen is that both relate to having costumed vigilantes taking down crimes on a daily basis. Kick-Ass twists things …

A cheesy fun violent comic book movie that was strangely marketed as a lighted hearted teen film.
Kick-Ass is a cheesy fun comic book movie based on a "graphic novel" of the same name.  The story revolves around some goofy teenage (Aaron Johnson) who decides to become a real life superhero (after donning a wet suit) named Kick-Ass.  After a rough start, he becomes an internet sensation when he gets involved in a brutal beat down in front of a cafe.  His actions and a near fatal attempt in trying to fight a local drug dealer catches the attention of a real crime fighter …

"With no power comes no responsibility.  Except that isn't true." That line from Kick Ass pretty much sums up the meta-message for Kick Ass the movie. Underdogs need to take a beating before they can prevail.  The trial by fire is an all important aspect of the mythos.  Kick Ass posits the theory that in order to become a superhero, all you really need is the power to get your ass kicked. I have to say that the moment that I heard the HR Puff-n-Stuff …

Being a Superhero ain't all its cracked up to be.
Action-packed, funny and explosive.      You cant go wrong with Kick-ass. When a high school kid decides to become a Super hero (cause no one elsr tried) hillarity ensues as not only is he in over his head, but he also becomes entangled in an even bigger situation no one could predict.      Kick-ass is a fun movie to watch. But be warned its rated 18A for a reason, on top of the blood and gore are explitives around every corner. I thought the story played …

The main conceit of Kick Ass, the latest super hero film to grace the screens of cinemas across the country, is that it's set in the "real world". You know, the real world where someone trains an eleven-year-old girl to be a mass-murderer and is viewed as a hero. Yeah, that real world. Of course, in the actual real world there are in fact kids who do get trained to be mass-murderers, go around killing people by the dozens and the people that trained them are rightly viewed as criminals, but whatever.  &nb …

Have you ever wanted to be a superhero. Kick-Ass is about four very different people who take very different paths to become superheroes. With a few exceptions, they do provide some innovative fighting scenes and hilarious moments.    First, the great. One of the superheroes, Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz), is a adorable 10-year old girl who has a passion for guns and slaughtering bad guys the way other young girls get excited for jewelry or dolls. Chloe is a great actress and gives …

A stylish, ultra-violent superhero comedy that satirizes the entire genre. Kind of like "Kill Bill" meets Marvel Comics' greatest hits. =D

Kick-Ass has generated some controversy for its profanity and violence, particularly for the character Hit-Girl. The film received mostly positive reviews.

Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson) is a normal teenager who wonders why nobody has ever decided to become a superhero like the ones in the comic books, so he decides to become a real-life superhero, despite having no superpowers  or training. During his first attempt to fight crime, Dave is beaten, stabbed, and hit by a car. Some of Dave's nerve endings are damaged as a result, giving him an enhanced capacity to endure pain, and metal plates are placed in his skeleton to support his bones.
