I'm lucky! Usually when I see a bad flick, I feel as if my day has been ruined. Am I granting too much power to the smoke and mirrors of cinema? Of course! That's why I spend all that money on tickets and popcorn. And, yes, if the movie is bad, I mean, that bad...then an entire day is shot and I must wait until the next to begin anew.

But that didn't happen with Wolverine. I came out of this one feeling pretty much the way I went going in: neutral. How they managed to pull that off, or rather, not pull off anything at all is altogether amazing. I mean, how do you mess this one up?

Well, for one,  the recitative in the beginning is somewhat rushed. If the intent was for the audience to feel a connection between Logan and Victor then the connection just didn't happen. Nor did the love story evoke much of a reaction for me. By the time Logan is standing over the body of his ol' lady, my feelings were neutral. And since these two elements inspire Logan's motivation for the rest of the movie, I had an equally vapid reaction as he went about bulldozing his way for vengeance, which by the way is the plot of the movie.  Only to an uninspired film studio (I won't blame the writers for this) do we tack such a simplistic motive on a character as deceptively simple as Wolverine. Had the studios rewatched their own movies – X-Men 1 thru 3 – they would realize that Wolverine is a little more complicated than this. Unfortunately, while "Wolverine" is a mostly forgetable-flick, it still manages to remind me of just how much wood there is in Hollywood blockbusters. Somehow adding more "spice" to their movies has resulted in their remarkable blandness. More explosions, more erotica, and more one-liners have equated to plateaued plots and sedated stories. Towards the 2nd act of Wolverine, I drifted into a mild sleep. My friend woke me up, but later apologized when he realized that it would have been better to let me rest.

No apology needed.

These days I consider movies like "Wolverine" to be another mark in the win column for film going. Usually I have to fight to put an awful movie out of my mind. I consider myself unscathed by something as inane and innocuous as this.

Three words... "Slow. Motion. Explosion" Decent action/comic flick if you ignore the cheese ball parts.

For young kids across the world X-Men Origins: Wolverine may be one of the coolest movies of the summer but, for me and others who have grown up in the comic & cartoon era this is one of the moments we have been waiting on for a long, long time. Needless to say waiting for this movie for so long had me entirely geeked up.    Cut to the moment of truth. The room darkens, the screen brightens and I'm tagging along for one of the greatest movie nights I have had in years. From …

Not being a fan for the comic book films or video game films (both of which seem to dominate the theater screens today) this viewer watched X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE on one of those 'there is nothing else on TV to watch' evenings. And surprise! The film is not that bad. Yes, it is corny and rather geared to young impressionable audiences, but the surprise is that the actors participating in this very slow weak script by David Benioff and Skip Woods seem to believe in it - or at least tongue in cheek …

I have never been more divided with a movie in my life. I both loved and hated this. Sometimes, the things I hated at the start of the movie I would love by the end. The X-Men movies were great. I personally loved all three and a fourth movie, even though it was technically a prequel, was wholly welcome. Hugh Jackman wasn't my ideal choice for the Wolverine character when he appeared in the first X-Men movie but has grown on me over the original trilogy. However, seeing this, I have to question …

Regenerative benefits see them through the Civil War, the World Wars and Vietnam   4. For fans of the X-Men, Wolverine was a movie way overdue. While the film has gotten mixed reviews already (seeing as the movie leaked over a month before it was released), I thoroughly enjoyed myself. To clarify, this review is on the fully mastered movie (the leaked copy was not finished and was not polished like it should have been).    What was good -  Hugh Jackman is at his Wolverinest, and his supporting cast was surprisingly good. In particular, I thought Ryan …

Wolverine poster
Growing up, Wolverine was always my favorite superhero.  I collected all of the toys, the comic books, the trading cards.  I loved the Saturday morning X-Men cartoon.  Wolverine and I were best buds...or so I imagined.  When I first heard about the Origin comic, I was ecstatic!  I mean common, this is the story that all Wolverine fans had been waiting for!  We finally got to know where Logan came from and everyone was happy.  Then, after the third X-Men film, they …

X-men Origins is a re-telling of Marvel's Weapon X series featuring James Logan, a Canadian soldier destined to become Wolverine. The movie starts in 1840s Canada with the then young Logan and his half-brother Victor Creed - the man destined to become Sabertooth. The film's cinemagraphics are shown early as the two brothers battle through some of the most historically relevant military battles. As they battle beside each other, it becomes apparent that these two men will share a similar future...and …

Totally exceeded my expectations. My second favorite X-Men film.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a worthless entry in this popular movie series adapted from the classic Marvel superhero team. In short: The movie is a simple, soulless action movie that really doesn't give justice to its primary characters. No character ever has a chance to develop a distinct personality, and we only understand Logan because of the fact that he has been a key player in three other films.     Hugh Jackman is a wonderful, very promising actor who is somewhat typecast …
