I have no problems with video games which are parodies of video games. One of my favorite titles in the world is the original SERIOUS SAM, which I consider a landmark not only in wacky, comic imagination but in game design as well. Thus, I could not pass up the opportunity to scope out this more recent shooter parody title EAT LEAD: THE RETURN OF MATT HAZARD. Having heard little good about it, I approached …

Wii Remote Controller
Ah the Wiimote, I remember when I first saw these controllers back at E3 2006. I was sitting at home watching X-Play when they were shown along side the new Console. I remember it like it was yesterday, when I saw those controllers for the first time my response I believe was "WHAT THE HELL ARE THOSE!!!!!"      Yes the Wiimote was a very odd controller, but its the instrument …

Ya know Lunchers I'm going to share something with you, I wasn't always a Nintendo gamer; in fact my first console ever.....................was actually a Sega Genesis. After the Sega came PS1, it was a great little console that thing, I had a good library of games and everything was good. Then i made he transition to Nintendo and I have been there ever since.      What …

posted in The Gaming Hub
With a name like Blood, one would anticipate this game to be some kind of vulgar, obscene atrocity with the mere intent of attracting the attention of mindless 13 year old boys who have nothing better to do with their lives. The one who would make that prediction would be right for the most part—Blood is pretty low-brow in execution. Unfortunately, I was one of those "mindless …

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
Dragon Quest has been the pioneering name in RPGs since the 80's. In fact, Dragon Quest was the series that codified a lot of the little, established facts of life about RPGs that we now take for granted: Class changing, battle bonuses, and head to head combat all have their roots in Dragon Quest.     Now, someone please tell me that Sentinels of the Starry Skies, the ninth entry …

What is it about NANO-BREAKER that's so mindbogglingly awesome? From a critical standpoint, it must be one of the most mediocre PS2 games ever made. But that hasn't stopped me from coming back to it time and time again for close to 7 years now. This is my "comfort food" video game. Whenever I'm depressed, lost or confused, I just flip on this sucker (or watch the cheesy trailer …

posted in The Gaming Hub
WAY before Sonic entered the scene, Sega's most popular character was a freakish little monkey man by the name of Alex Kidd. He couldn't run fast like the legendary hedgehog and his back wasn't covered with serrated blades. Still, he could punch and kick his way through monsters and obstacles like no other square shaped platformer hero could. It's obvious that the monkey man was Sega's …

Burnout 2: Point of Impact
I have a quick confession to make: I don't like the Gran Turismo series. Now, that's not to say I have anything against it. By all means, the entire series is a marvel of technicality and incredible game design. It's just that I don't find the games, well, fun. They're just not my thing. I don't like building fleets of underpowered, everyday cars and racing endless circuit races in order to eventually …

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
CASTLEVANIA is actually my favorite video game franchise of all time. Oh no…I'm serious. This is the series that has kept me coming back for years now, one that I have very fond nostalgic memories for and just can't seem to get enough of. My first experience with CASTLEVANIA was actually the second entry in the franchise, the second game I ever played for NES back when I was a wee little …

posted in The Gaming Hub
In the great race of space bad guys in video games who are all out to destroy the Earth, the Sinistron is unique. Instead of being an entire squadron of aliens, the Sinistron is just one enemy. Just one. So what's the problem? Well, he's a big 'un, who is out to lay waste to our home planet after gobbling up Pluto as a snack, like some kind of budget version of Galactus.     The …

WiiU Gamepad
They call it the swiss army knife of controllers, and they are right. The WiiU gamepad is in a class of its own. Off the top this things got built into it a 6 inch touch screen, NFC reader, Accelerometer, gyroscope, built in universal remote for televisions and cable boxes, speakers, a front facing camera, volume control and headphone jack. The controller allows you to continue playing a game if you …

N64 controller
N64 was a great console, yes it couldn't hold a candle to the PS1 which had better looking games, but nonetheless was a great console. But after all the years Ive played game on the thing I still don't understand this controller. Do I hold it in the middle or the sides, Do i play one handed? The hell Nintendo. As if my childhood wasn't confusing enough.

Watch Dogs
Don't ask me how, Don't ask me why, but when I first saw this game at E3 2012, it was love at first sight. I loved the game, and when it was announced for WiiU, I knew at that moment I had to own it. I HAD TO OWN IT!!!! So yesterday I pre ordered it. By November this game will be mine. Maybe I will review it, Im not sure yet.

Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag
I tried to play the first Assassins Creed game, it was slow and kind of boring but could be fun at times. When I got my WiiU I decided that I wanted to give the series another chance, so I decided to buy Assassins Creed 3. I played it, I loved it., LOVED IT!!!!! So when I heard the announcement for Assassins Creed 4 naturally I got super excited. Something I really loved from AC3 was the Naval Missions …

Overview      Quake is a 1996 FPS from iD software, legendary developers of Wolfenstein 3D and Doom. It was one of the first PC titles to offer a fully 3D world instead of the 2.5D graphics which were popular with FPS games at that time. During the development of this game there was a lot of internal strife at iD software (leading to John Romero being fired, and going on to develop …

Bowser fights Mario. It's a long-established fact of life in video games. There's an entire new generation of kids being raised now for whom it's such a law of the universe, it's absurd to look at it in any other light. They don't understand or appreciate that Mario's first-ever foe was a big ape by the name of Donkey Kong, mostly because Donkey Kong is now so firmly entrenched in the Nintendo canon …

I'll be blunt right off: Golden Axe is overrated! It has clunky mechanics and bugs which were difficult to excuse back when it was a new-fangled arcade game and in the opening of the Silver Era. Over 20 years after the fact, Golden Axe has been devoured and shit out by the Time Monster, and there's no way to let go of its advanced age anymore. And this game, folks, was a CLASSIC! It's a common staple …

The Last of Us is undoubtedly one of the best games I've played in a long while, and one of the better IP's this generation. Good to see, that even with the release of the PS4 and the next generation of counsels coming soon, we're still getting such quality games for this generation. The Last of Us is just the type of game we needed to send this generation out with a bang, and I'm …

Donkey Kong
If you're not familiar with the video game version of the old King Kong scenario, you're a sorry excuse of a gamer. Donkey Kong is one of those truly old games from the ancient era from when games were games, and nothing but. In the early 90's, Nintendo created a Game Boy version of Donkey Kong to attract your father as a fan, just in time for Donkey Kong's revision and transformation from the original …
