Great Portable Version of Great Game

  • Mar 22, 2007
Pros: Improved graphics and portable game play of popular Gamecube game

Cons: Fishing is harder and top screen tends to be useless

The Bottom Line: Enjoyable game if you enjoy Animal Crossing and ability to play it when on the go with improved graphics, however not quite as entertaining as Gamecube version.

This is a great follow up to the Animal Crossing made for the Gamecube. This portable version sort of uses the two screens, but for most of what you do you just use the touch screen. When you are outside the top screen shows you the sky, which I particularly like at night when it shows the moon and stars. Overall game play is very similar to the Gamecube version. You move into a new town although by taxi instead of train and buy a house on loan from Tom Nook. You figure out the layout of your town and how the game works by working off part of your debt working fro Nook. I find the game to be fun to play when I cannot play the Gamecube version, but I still find the Gamecube version better, especially when fishing, as it takes a lot of precision on casting the rod in the right direction to attract the fish in this version. I do however like the acorn festival in this version and the way the city is not broken into sections that have a slight lag when you change sections. It seems more life like than the original version with better graphics and a smooth transition between across the map rather than the delay you get when enter a new square of the map on the original version.
