What starts the story in this game?   You are in control of Lightning. She's on a personal mission to save her younger sister Serah from the grasp of the evil Fal'Cie. With your partner Sazh you make your way to where the Fal'Cie lie in wait. The story quickly shifts you to the story of Snow. This young man is Serahs fiancee. While working on a mission with NORA (his resistance group), tragedy strikes and an innocent mother is lost. This lose of an important figure quickly …

The long awaited Final Fantasy XIII was finally released this year after many years in development, FF has been one of my favorite series ever since I first played it on the Super Nintendo, even though there are 13 games in the series, each game pretty much stand on its own and has pretty different mechanics, so even though I was pretty much burned out on Japanese RPGs, I was still looking forward to this game.      Well, the game is finally out, and after a great looking intro …

As Final Fantasy ages, each new installment seems to become more and more polarizing as Final Fantasy incorprates new ideas.  Final Fantasy X got a fairly warm reception among audiences and is often labeled by fans as one of the best Final Fantasy outings out there.  Since then, however, the Final Fantasy titles released have often received mixed reactions from fans.  Final Fantasy XI went online and had fans scratching their heads.  Final Fantasy XII incorporated an entirely …

Alright I held off reviewing the game until I actually finished the main story completely.      Final Fantasy XIII ushers in a new age and way for newcomers to the Final Fantasy "brand" and for old fans to get their yearly Final Fantasy in. This game takes an alternative approach and virtually allows the player to experience the story in a streamlined and fast way. Unlike other RPG's, the player wont find themself straying off on the path to fulfill sidequest orders …

Ah yes Final Fantasy XIII, probably one of the most disappointing one for a lot of people, but for everyone who still want to play this game, don't be biased, give this a chance and you will see that it can get quite interesting.  The story and character development are not the best, that's true, but they are still likeable and interesting. The graphics are top quality and everything runs smooth, the soundtrack is really nice and the voice actors know their job, as far as it concerns me, …

For a game that's polarised popular opinion so much, there really isn't a great deal in FFXIII for people to pick on, as far as I'm concerned. Fun, intense, thrilling gameplay, combined with a sweeping, powerful, emotional soundtrack, vivid, detailed and unique art design, a well-presented (if formulaic) plot full of fairly likeable characters and a mixture of comedy and tragedy played up to eleven. Maybe I'm the only person out there who feels this way, but FFXIII was a diamond …

One of the top Final Fantasies in my honest opinion. The game is just fantastic. Music is superb. Graphics are just amazing. and the characters are very impressive. The good far outshines the bad (like the brilliance of a thousand suns+1). I loved almost every aspect of this game. Don't let bad reviews make you turn a blind eye to this beautiful game.

I know the beginning is very streamlined at the beginning, but the story is great, and it the game really opens up in chapter ten.

What is there left to be said about this title that I or many others have already said repeatedly in the daily posts of Siliconera? A true disappointment, but it gets a point for presentation. Perhaps if I had went into it with a more open mind I would have enjoyed it better, but the accumulation of the long wait coupled with what was promised in the trailers had mislead me too far in the wrong direction already.      EDIT: Playing it on my friend's 360, I was unable to complete …

TIME TO BEAT: Over 70 hours    Sometimes, being a good girlfriend means sitting on the couch and watching him play a game or playing a game together. I'm a moderate gamer; the new controls are generally more complicated than I'm willing to commit to. He is a hard core gamer. Some games are easier to watch than others, and some are easier to play. This review is not for the hard core gamer. This review is for the girlfriend (or boyfriend, who am I to judge?) that sits on the couch …

Final Fantasy with this release became THE label to put on a crap game to sell it. If you think running down a tunnel for 40 hours is fun, then I have a great idea for a theme park attraction.

I can't seem to get into this one as much as others in the franchise. Every dungeon looks like the last one but with different colored walls... I know it's a longshot, but I'm hoping this game opens up a bit soon.

(initially I had given this a four-star rating. Here is my original review)    Ah, the "Final Fantasy" series. I remember as a callow youth playing the original NES game after a friend lent it to me. I was very confused because I hadn't really come across the concept of a video game RPG before. Then along came the Super Nintendo and "Final Fantasy II"/"Final Fantasy IV" and from there on I was hooked.    I've put in time on all the games in the series except …

I miss the ability to control all teammates independently, but the level system is a pretty cool change. Storyline is pretty epic and boss battles are fun since almost all of them demand a strategy of some sort.

Slow start and juvenile characters, but it has one of the deepest combat system in the final fantasy series.
