Pros: Good variety of mini games

Cons: Sometimes 1 on 3 can be frustrating and hard for the person playing alone

The Bottom Line: Really fun game with a lot of different things to do offering plenty of enjoyable game time.

This is a fun DS game in the Mario Party series of mini game party style games. There are five different main modes to play in. The first is story mode, which is a one player mode in which you play party board games in face bosses to advance through the story mode plot.

The second mode is Party Mode in which you play a game on one of the five available (if you have unlocked all of them) board choices. You can play through the boards in three different options. One is Battle Royale that has all four players competing against each other. The second is Tag Battle, which is a two on two team style way of playing. The third is Duel Battle in which only two players battle.

The third mode is Minigame Mode. In this mode you can play mini games without having to do the board game part that is in the Story and Party mode, although you do have to play those modes in order to unlock the mini games for this mode. There are six options for playing mini games and they become unlocked as you earn more party points. There is Free Play in which you can choose to play any mini game you have unlocked, Step it Up in which you try to reach the top of the steps by winning a certain amount of mini games, Battle Cup in which you battle trying to win, Score Scuffle in which you try to win as many points as possible, Boss Bash in which try to get your best time in the boss minigames, and Rocket Rascals in which you win pieces by winning minigames and try to build a bridge to a rocket.

The fourth mode is a puzzle mode. In this mode you can play different puzzle games such as Mario’s Puzzle Party in which you try to get blocks to disappear by matching at least two in a row of the same color.

The final playing mode is Multiplayer. In this mode you can play with up to four other local wireless players. Best thing is you only need one Mario Party DS game card to do this via Download Play.

There is also a Gallery Mode, but this is not a play mode. It is kind of interesting to browse through every once in a while, though. It shows the different items you have earned. It also shows the story sequences and records. Additionally you can unlock a part that plays sounds and character voices. Lastly it shows you the different Mini games you have unlocked and also gives you an idea of how many you have not unlocked by showing the question marks on ones you have not yet played/unlocked.

Overall this game is a lot of fun with the great variety of mini games and modes to play, which allow for this to be a game that continues to offer entertainment even after playing it many hours. The colorful good quality graphics make this game even more enjoyable. Another great thing about this game is that it uses the microphone control aspect of the DS. The microphone control just has you blow for certain mini games. Other mini games use a variety of button and/or touch screen controls.
